I just received this in the mail yesterday 2/20/15 with two day shipping, love prime. Anyway about this item it says what it means with the changing in color when touch, hit, and shake and the sounds. I got this for my 3yr old son which will be turning 4 soon. Also got one for myself so we can play together! He loves it so much especially at night! The only thing I would like it to have on it is a volume up/down button. It has an on and off volume & an on and off power button. Other than that, I am very happy with the purchase, more importantly my son is.

Great toy
I ordered 20 of these as the party favor for our star wars birthday party. I was not disappointed. All of the sabers worked well. I had ordered extra just in case some were defective, but that was not an issue. They function very cool in that they change color every time there is a shake or flick/ pretend strike or a real strike. So, they all rotate between red, blue, and purple when they sense movement. They are never green. I had compared several different ones in a toy store before making this bigger order. I went with these because because the sound effects they make are also really good. If the saber is just laying on the ground untouched, it makes a very "star wars" oscillating-type laser noise. If someone picks it up, the sound responds with motion as well and the sound coordinates with the light changing. I never used the plastic stand. I guess if you wanted it as room decor the stand would maybe be helpful. After the 6-year-olds played hard with these one of them did break with the laser part being bent/crunched. But, I still felt like they were pretty sturdy given what they had been through. These would look really cool on a Halloween night as well. I never explored the $80-120 version of light sabers as these seemed pretty cool and a great price, so I can't really compare them with that type of saber.

Prepare to cover your ears!
Cheap and easy fun. The item is well designed and while not designed for a LOT of battles, it's a fun toy.The sound card is EXTREMELY LOUD with the sounds you want for a Light Saber battle. Our Fix? The hilt comes apart with screws. We inserted crafting felt into the speaker at the bottom of the hilt. Once put back together, the sound is audible but not deafening. Perfect for our kids to play with.

for the price its a very awesome toy! It has been played with hard and in 2 weeks it doesnt work very well. I haven't changed the batteries so that could be it. It is pretty loud. Someone suggested putting a piece of felt in the bottom where the speaker is at. I will have to try that.

Just okay
This is a Christmas present for my son. He saw it in a retail store and loved it. I think it is okay at best. It is a little flimsy. I don't imagine that it will last long.

Great product!
Great product!! The sounds are very authentic! You seriously can not beat the price either! I ordered 2 of them. One for me, & 1 for my 8 yr old son. We Love battling once it gets dark in the front yard. I had a few naubors who seen us & asked about them. They ended up purchasing these for their kids as well. All the kids absolutely Love them. But I wouldn't recommend hitting them really hard against something, keep in mind they are plastic! But for normal kid ( and I guess adult too. lol ) play, I would, & have recommended these to anyone/everyone !... As you can see in my pics, the sun had just stared going down outside, and you could still see how bright & clearly they light up !!

Arrived broken
If it didn't arrive broken, it would be a decent quality for the price. I also purchased a different brand of saber (pink) that was about $15 with less quality but decided to keep it because it worked. I just wanted to write a review of the condition it arrived in (notably unacceptable even for a wearhouse deal). Luckily I will have time to return/exchange the item before Halloween so make sure you allow that possibility if this is a key accessory for whatever you need it for. I will try to remember to update once I get a hold of an undamaged product ;)

Light saber
I got this for my 8 year old grandson and he (and I) are delighted. It is just the right size and the sounds are very close to the ones in the movies.

Good value
This light sabre is much cheaper than many and has all the lights and sounds. My boys loved them - in the end one has broken and I am sure the other will but they got a good bashing and were well worth the fun.

Amuses Students
I bought a couple of these light-sabers for my physics friends (we're all students). Although they may not look or sound authentic (no exact likeness to star-wars) they are great fun and have stood up to students battering each other with them for months (and are still going strong).
