Question 1

I want to run three ledenet 16' strip lights in series (48' total).  do i need this to boost the power to the strips?

Accepted Answer

This is ment to boost the total output to 24A. You can connect as many strips as you want as long as the total current of the strips is less than 24A. You can get from the strips specs the current in A/m and add the total length of your strips to see how much they will actually consume. Make sure your power supply is capable to deliver the same value multiplied by three. I will not go with three strips in serial because the last string will look dimmer. You can connect them in parallel and make sure in any case the cables you use have enough gage for the current passing through them.

Question 2

I want three 20' runs, do i just need this, the leds, and controller?  can i run them in parallel off the output channel?  is there a wiring diagram?

I used this amp to power and control three runs of lights using the output of one RGB controller.  I made a tree, so I had three levels of branches with three and four branches each, and each branch was between two and four feet of LED tape-lights. I think my max was 45 feet of tape.  Just figure the amps or watts you will draw based on the number of feet you have!  In essence, run all of your light strip leads in parallel as listed on the very helpful face plate of the amplifier.  I chose to solder the four-wire connector wire to the LED tapes and used automotive spade terminals to connect the wires together and hold them under the screws.  You can probably get away with using the snap-on connectors, wire nuts where needed, and just twist leads together under the screw terminals of the amp if you don't have vibration and moisture I did--prop for marching band show.  I had no issues with these amplifiers; solid product!  Just remember to keep your RGBW the same for every connection--the tapes care if you reverse them left to right!

So this doesn't need any external power of its own and can just output 24a just from the power one LED strip controller?

Not exactly. If you look at the output section, you will see two power supply connectors for the required power supply. The size of this power supply should be sufficient to cover whatever RGB load you connect to the output connectors.

One is input source the main one you should using to control all the output could be 16 ft. Anything more than that you should be adding another amplifier to boost the signal
