Great product
Always excellent books! Gary does a very good job of covering the overwhelming number of features in this camera and he does it while keeping you conscious. :)Heads up for you photography NOOBs - this is NOT an intro guide to photography. It will NOT teach you how to take pictures. It will NOT teach you how to operate a camera if you've never used one before. Contrary to what some seem to believe, the A6xxx series cameras ARE NOT point-and-shoot cameras! If you do not know how to operate a real camera - SLR, DSLR, DSLT, etc. - this book is going to be WAY over your head. And, no, knowing how to take a picture with your smartphone isn't going to help.I have several books for my Minolta 7Ds, Sony a900s and a99ii, and Sony a6300. Gary's books for the a99ii and a6xxx Sony series are by far the most comprehensive. His examples are very useful, if like me, you are transitioning from an older platform like the a850/900 series to Sony's new Alphas and learning about not only new physical bodies but completely new internal technology.Sony people - there is very little difference between the features (and menu) of the A6xxx and the new a99MK2. I still bought both of Gary's books but I bought one in paper and one in electronic so I could keep the electronic version with me on a tablet for quick reference for both cameras.

Essential reading that will save you a lot of time...
The vast majority of this lengthy guide is a detailed and, above all, clear explanation of what the A6300's bewildering number of setting options are, and what they do. Without it, you'll probably remain bewildered for some time as you realise that the manual included with the camera is wholly inadequate in explaining the camera's myriad features and as you then embark on the time-consuming process of trying to work things out yourself; a task not helped by Sony's notoriously complex and consumer "unfriendly" menu system (one of the camera's few weaknesses, and one that's highlighted in most reviews of it).I bought this on Kindle (the much cheaper and, in my view, best option, not least because you'll need to bookmark various pages and flick backwards & forwards between them) and within an evening knew everything I needed to know about how to make this brilliant camera work in the way I want it to while, on the way, discovering a number of genuinely useful features that without this guide I may never have found or understood.£13 is a small price to pay for the amount of time it saved me and, as a result, I'd class it as essential reading for anyone new to the camera.

Wouldn't have gotten too far without this guide
Wading through the Sony manual generated more questions than answers. Mr. Friedman's guide gave me the jump start I needed to learn my new a6300. Not only is the guide well organized by how one might actually use the camera (rather than just learn about menu options in the order you see them on the camera) but the author also explains why and when you might consider using a feature. I'm even reading about features I'll likely never use just because his explanations are so clear and engaging. It definitely would have taken me longer to start using this camera to its fullest without this guide.
