Great squatting potty for my little one.
I got this potty to help potty train my son (I know it's the girl one, but the girl one was cheaper for some reason haha) and he really like it. It is comfortable to sit on and allows him to squat, which is the natural position to go the bathroom in. Some may say this is too close to the ground, but this is meant to be a squatting potty which allows for easier elimination and less stress on the rectal muscles. Even though he is small for his age (2) this worked very well for him and I think this could work for potty training very small children if a parent wanted to do elimination communication. I think it would also work well for older children with the idea in mind that they are suppose to be squatting. It also works well for him to stand up to pee because of the height. Since it is so simple it is so easy to clean, nothing can get stuck on a ledge or a crevice.

VERY VERY Pleased - BUY THIS POTTY! Really is the best potty out there.
This is absolutely the best shaped potty out there for girls or boys. The saddle shape that the product description mentions enables little ones to feel very safe and secure. Unlike other potties it doesn't in any way leave indentations on their skin. I personally think that the all singing all dancing potties distract toddlers from what they are really meant to be doing, and confuse the message of potty training. Unless you have left potty training until very late, i.e. 3+, when they have the control but they just need incentive, anything other than a plain potty is just going to confuse the issue.I've had many friends really struggle with potty training because the potty they initially tried in was uncomfortable/felt unstable (particularly the Fisher Price frog potty - that potty is very high off the ground, very difficult for toddlers to feel balanced and relaxed on). I was lucky enough to be given one of these potties by a friend whose child had already potty trained. As soon as I put one of my twin girls onto this potty I could see why my friend and her little girl had loved it so much, they feel super safe and secure on it. To my surprise they both immediately did a wee in the potty! Had to then hide the one potty and await for this one to arrive from Amazon so we could start really potty training. The biggest help you can have in the potty training experience is if you can find a potty that your little one actually likes to sit on. This one may not look very exciting, but it is super comfy, so they will happily sit until something happens. The only other potty that I consider a sensible choice if you want your child to potty train smoothly is the Baby Bjorn potty chair, and I still think this potty has the edge on being a more comfortable to sit on since it is more curved, and comes in a little cheaper too, which adds up if your buying multiple potties.

Great Potty Chair
I think this potty chair is wonderful because its so simple and easy for a toddler to use. It is one solid surface with no crevises so cleaning is easy by rinsing it then using a sanitzing wipe. I thought the book was helpful to help show my 2 year old son what the potty chair is for, he really likes books and he was interested in it (even though the 'boy' version was sold out and I bought him the 'girl' version) - btw the boy and girl versions are exactly the same thing excpet for the little boy or girl picture. The only negative is it can be a little messy to dump out - this is why I gave it 4 of 5 stars. All the edges are smooth so the contents end up dibbling down the side a little. It would be helpful to have a sort of pour spout area to make dumping it easier and a little less messy. I don't find this to be a huge negative but its worth mentioning. I would still buy this potty chair again and definately reccomend it to a friend.

A problem
WE bought this potty for our 2 year old son and he adored it. However, when he sat on it to go "poo-poo" we had a serious problem. His knees were up high and he pushed far to hard (maybe something unique to being slightly constipated - which happens to all kids). He ended up with a prolapse (serious issue). While the situation is normal now, this only happened twice and both times were on this particular potty. We bought the "expensive" baby bjorn seat that fits on the potty and have had great luck with that! We taught our son to pee seated and the seat works great with the shield. The pediatrician says that it is not the potty that created this situation, but that the way that he is sitting and pushing - I agree, but feel like the potty did not work for us.

simple to clean but not good for boys
I bought this simple potty seat for the no frills simplicity of it. My son (he just turned 3) has a very hard time peeing in it without spraying all over the floor. There just isn't enough room from front to back. He is so embarrassed and upset he refuses to go now. He is not a particularyl big kid - he's just in the 50%ile.

Exactly what I wanted
We ordered this in Spring, when my daughter was 22 mths old. Still not 'actively' potty-training, I think we started too early, but she went both#1 and #2 on it at home by summer. She loves changing the doll's diaper, and loves to read the little book while sitting on the potty. So easy to clean, no pieces to take apart, and is easily carried to another room. Great value, it got her talking and thinking about potty-time even if she's not ready to start yet. I had a hard time finding gift set in stock, had to pay more $ to find doll and book/potty.
