HTC Desire 820 (Santorini White, 16GB)

After lot of research I have bought this phone, and I am totally satisfied with the experience. UI is very smooth, there are no lags at all. HTC Blink is also very cool.Battery performance is average. It depends on how you use it. I am not a big gamer, for me with very few light games, emails, blink feed and browsing on wifi and 3G I am getting full day run with 20-30 % battery remaining.Following syncs are on throughout the day: Gmail sync, using 2 accounts, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Blink feed.Note to get good battery backup I make sure that I have weather and location updates off, remove unnecessary apps, auto brightness on, required topics added to blink feed. Also I am using saver mode in addition to 'Greenify' app, which helps me save battery used by unnecessary apps running in background. But with my limited usage I can get full day run without saver mode or greenify.Performance of 64 bit Snapdragon 615 Octa core processor is pretty good. Although as of now there are no 64 bit software, but once Lollipop update is received I am sure this mobile will perform very well.Looks are very cool, graphics plus build quality are immaculate. Santorini white is very awesome. Resolution could have been better but HTC provides great results with 720p.While playing Asphalt 8 I experienced little heating at back near camera. But that did not cause any issue. For heavy gamer this might be an issue.Subway surfer, temple run, unblock me, parking mania, hill climb and light games do not cause heating or drastic decrease in battery life. Running Asphalt with low settings heating is very negligible.Back cover is glossy, hence I am using a transparent cover to avoid slipping and retain Santorini White look. Also trying HTC Dot view cover, very distinct and innovative.Call quality is really good.Speakers are really cool. They deliver good output. I compared this with Moto G, Moto G has good volume output, but HTC 820 gives good overall quality.Phone is light in weight considering 5.5 inch screen size.Phone is very sleek and build quality is very good, blue and white combination is very smart.Camera performance is also good. Both front camera and main camera are good. Flash of main camera is really effective.The screen resolution is very good and make internet browsing experience very awesome. Swipe keyboard is very smooth. Big screen allows to easily take notes and do all banking, bookings, utility apps.Having used touchwiz, Asus Zenfon UI, Moto G stock UI, HTC Sense UI is a good choice. Nova Launcher as an alternative also gives good results. There is a CAR mode and kids mode.14/01/2014: Mobile received.02/02/2015: Update I have been using this mobile for more than 2 weeks I have yet to see my phone hang once.02/02/2015: Regarding battery charging, using HTC provided charger on mains the mobile charges very fast.01/03/2015: I have been running Desire 820 with location, weather updates, flipkart, amaxon accounts signed still able to get full day run.

Product was good, but I have faced horrible experience. Basically I can say you that it has general motherboard related issue and faulty design of motherboard. My SIM slot was damaged. I took it to the service center and there I have heard that SIM slots are attached with the motherboard, so I have to replace the motherboard! What a bad design it is! They are telling it will cost INR 10000.00 to replace the motherboard! Within this price new phone with much higher specification can be found. In the service center many person were telling about same issue. Please don't buy any phone of HTC.

If you won't consider Chinese brands like one plus one and stick to more reputed brands then this is hands down the winner.HTC came through with the styling and the phone looks elegant and funky at the same time.The two tone finish works at many levels but also is a finger print magnet due to the glossy finish.But most ppl would end up putting a cover on it so what the hell...The phone is light and powerful for the size.Is battery is good but could have been better.The size is a small let down, large bezels kinda make the phone larger than it needs to be. The one plus one with similar screen size is almost a centimeter smaller in height. One handed use is difficult.But the extra space is used by the boom sound speakers that work great. No they are not so loud but these days the smart phones are sound like cats stuck in pipes. It gives adequate umph and volume.Touch response is good but slightly slower than similar priced phones. Bit most ppl won't notice that. Keep your phone clean memory wise and with the HTC sense the device will work ubér fast.Last but not he least the cameras. They are great. The 8mp front shooter is great for selfies and the rear is good for landscape shots. How ever mega pixels isnt all that matters. The simple UI is easy to use and most ppl will be able to use all the features. However low light imaging is full of noise and is a let down.

Great product if one is ok with 5.5 inches screen. This product is the best in respect to value for money. Though screen is 720p but colors on display is impressive and display doesn't disappoint. This is a great selfie camera, it puts makeup on face while taking selfie which is a great feature by HTC. Touch experience on display is superb and at par with apple iphone. Many are complaining about heating issue but i played games like radiant, subway surfer temple run 2 around 1 hour and the temperature was just 37 degree which i don't think is too much hot. May the heating problem is resolved now as HTC has provided a new firmware 1.22.720.1. I would request other who is facing heating issue to upgrade the firmwar to 1.22.720.1 which is available over the AIR(OTA) to see if it solves the heating issue for them or not. Regarding battery issue which many are complaining, i would say that they should check in the setting that which app is taking much more battery power and if possible then please uninstall that or upgrade that app if update is available in play store. I charge in the morning and it works till night with yahoo mail, gmail, often browsing and whatsapp every now and then. During one hour of gameplay, battery drained was 8 percent i.e. it reduced from 100 to 92 percent so i don't think that battery issue is also there in this phone. Only one thing i didn't like about the phone is that it doesn't support dual active sim instead it supports dual standby sim.
