Review: Third Time Was A Charm - It took 3 trys and JJ Abrams (Lost, Alias etc)to finally get a great MI movie. And, unfortunately, it only took one crazy session of couch jumping on Opera to make a lot of people ignore it. Well, that and the audio players that were placed in LA Times newspaper vending machines to play the theme music when opened, that people mistook for bombs. That negative publicity at release time was very unfortunate because this is by far the best MI of the three. The trailer gives a good idea of the intense action and interactions between Cruise and Hoffman, who are both at the top of their form. I can't think of a film where either are better. This is an action film with some outlandish gadgets, just like the original TV series and chock full of action. So its not like the new Casino Royale [Blu-ray ] or Bourne Trilogy (3pc) (Ws Dub Sub Ac3 Dol Gift) offerings which do not have anywhere near the gadgets that don't exist. This movie is like an update of an old Bond movie with its intense action and fantastic gear. The plot is no more outlandish then any vintage bond move and is followable. The action scenes are as good as any I have seen, and I am a movie buff. One of my favorite scenes is shot on the old bridge that goes to the Florida Keys. The amount of destruction in that one scene makes me wonder if that strip will be used in a film again. If you want to watch a great action flick with some intense action scenes I highly recommend MI3 Review: Love the Mission Impossible Series! - Love all the Mission Impossible series movies! I'm a Tom Cruise fan and think his movies, especially his stunts are incredible! They're fast paced and the stunts are amazing. Plenty of action and the story is also compelling. Love his movies!

Not bad, but not great
As series go, MI lacks the tension and interest of the Bourne trilogy, but it's entertaining, none the less. The plot is not as strong as the first, the twists aren't without slightly heavy-handed foreshadowing, but it's better than the second in the series, hands down. Though I love gadgets, I'd like to see them with a viable, not over-the-top 'vengeance is mine' mania. MI-III just pushes that envelope too much for me. Forgetting Cruise's recent unfortunate publicity issues, he seems to pass through each scene with the same grim mini-smile and determined stare, which made it hard to feel as if I were watching Ethan Hunt and not Tom Cruise gritting his teeth for another action sequence. And like the motorcycle pas de deux in the second installment, some of the action sequences just stepped a major stride outside of believable, and into the realm of, well, the impossible. But then, I like to see my action heroes do things that seem very, very difficult, but not out of the realm of humanly possible. Maybe that's just me. Beat them up, but don't turn them into superheroes. After all, what's fun about Superman if there's no kryptonite?

Third Time Was A Charm
Tom Cruise has not lost his star appeal nor has he lost his ability to make a great action movie. This installment of the sequel took me by surprise. The Blu-ray version of Mission Impossible 3 looks and sounds great! It's not the absolute best blu-ray quality, but it is very good! This is the best of the first 3 mission impossibles (it's not as good as ghost protocol though) and I'm glad I purchased it! I like the new box art and amazon literally shipped it to me in 3 days even when I did standard shipping! Very fast shipping!

Mission Impossible 3
"M:I-3" is the one film of the trilogy that almost never happened - delayed and cancelled so many times we thought it would never come. Ironic, then, that it is far and away the best film of the three. Where the original was a little bereft of big action sequences and the second blatantly self - indulgent in slow-mo shots of The Cruiser's floppy hair, the third strikes the perfect balance between top-drawer action, fantastic acting and an enthralling story-line. Largely due to J.J. Abrams' masterful directing, this film has blistering pace whilst taking the time to give us some truly memorable character acting. The support cast for the film is superb: despite limited screen time, Michelle Monaghan portrays a believably strong but vulnerable other half to Cruise's secret agent. And Ving Rhames' Luther Stickle is also a likeable and interesting performance. Most memorable however is Philip Seymour Hoffman as bad guy Owen Davien. He is a very, very bad man, always one step ahead of things, and the opening scene sets him up as a truly enthralling villain. But this film is all about one person: Tom Cruise. Looking at him move, run , fight, just be on the screen, it's hard to believe its ten years since the first "Impossible". He takes his character to new heights in this third outing, enhancing Hunt's humanity and showing us what really drives the man, what "pushes his buttons". This is helped by the on-screen chemistry with Monaghan, but also with Seymour Hoffman. He steals every scene with one quick knowing grin at the screen, and not just in the action sequences (almost all of which he performed himself); particularly memorable is an emotional sequence between Hunt and his wife-to-be, when The Cruiser takes up over 10 seconds of screen time in total silence, yet making it one of the most captivating scenes in the film. In simple terms, this "Mission" successfully completes the sometimes impossible task of a balanced action movie - a perfect blend of non stop, breath taking stunts with top notch acting. The Cruisr on top of his game.
