How Big Were the Dinosaurs?

Great book to read to 4s and dinosaurs are always a favorite.

Same book I remember from being a kid. The pages are not that shiny and thick material I remember them being, but more like printer paper. As long as that’s fine with you, it’s a great purchase.

Do you have a little paleontologist in your house? The appeal of this book is not a story but facts about how big dinosaurs really were.Comparing dinosaurs to school buses or a dino tooth the size of your toothbrush makes this a comparison that is easy to demonstrate and understand. I shared this book with a group of kindergarten paleontologist and it was an instant hit. Measurements like inches, feet and yards do not 'make sense' to this age group. But when I held up my toothbrush and told them that each tooth of the Tyrannasarus Rex was this big, they wanted to know more, like how many tubes of toothpaste did it take to brush all his teeth? Comparing the known world to the unknown world is clever. Now all I have to do is find a dinosaur and test out the toothbrushing question .

Understanding the relationship of sizes of things can be very difficult. This book does a good job of trying to relate the size of dinosaurs with every day things.

This is a book we read every few days, he really likes it. I would recommend it for young readers, up to second grade.

It helped my first graders understand the size of dinosaurs once it was compared to something they know. I wouldn't have been able to come up with these comparisons on my own. They made fun extension activities!

My 5 year old grandson loves anything to do with dinosaurs. This book helps him imagine just how big there were. The book was in great condition.
