Lonely Planet Madrid (Travel Guide) (City Guide)

Down to earth information - very practical advice
I'm using it in conjunction with the Rick Steeves guide and I found that the Lonely Planet goes beyond the usual "touristy" information and gives special attention to gay places to stay, and places to go out at night that are either gay friendly or gay establishments.

Jam Packed and Suitable for Everyone
Love the lonely planet guides anyway but this one is great. We are visiting Madrid on a short time budget with a football game already planned for some of the time, so wanted to fit in the best bits easily and simply. I love how this book allows you to plan whoever you are, families, couples, single travellers and gives you an idea of price range for the things that you plan. All in all a good all round guide.

Disapointment
Over the years I have read and used a number of travel guides - also Lonely Planet - but this one is a great disappointment. I read the first half and gave up. I almost felt not wanting to visit Madrid at all, but having been there twice in the past, I overcame that feeling. l It is just a long list of possibilities, no evaluation or actual advise or ideas. I will give it one star for the photo of the cover; hat is a splendid photograph.Anders Grum
