Had one false alarm about a week after install - there wasn't any smoke in the house, no one was cooking, it had the factory supplied battery. It lasted about 1/2 hour, and then cleared by itself. This is mounted at the top of a vaulted ceiling, with attic space above. Perhaps there was some insect that crawled inside during that time. Otherwise pleased with the unit.

The SITERWELL Hardwired Smoke Alarm I received, a model GS518, appeared to match the description on the web page, however, it had a batch date of January, 2018. The unit I received was 1.5 years old! Since I don't know how it was stored for the past 18 months and its remaining life is only 8.5 years instead of the expected 10 years, I am severely disappointed. I understand that a lag can occur between the manufactured date and the sell date but I think 3 months is a realistic expectation for a critical safety item.

An easily installed photoelectric smoke detector. This detector has the same 9v output pulse on the trigger line as other brands. I used the output to activate a relay connected to a controller for a ventilation system. Not used for fire detection per se, just to clear smoke that accumulates from our normal cooking operations. We have flame detection for fires of course!Seems sensitive enough for our application. Automates the "clearing out of the smoke" from a flat top grill which was previously accomplished by manual ventilation control.
