You don't "get a lot for your money" because you can get a giant bag for cheaper from other brands. And while the word "ORGANIC" is slapped on hugely, perlite is not a naturally-occurring substrate so it might not be to everyone's tastes. That said, this perlite is the epitome of flawless perlite. They are perfect-sized and the pores aren't too big that it looks too much like styrofoam. Perlite does wonders in my pots by making the soil less compact and increasing drain-ability. I wouldn't pot any succulents without.Just remember to not breathe any of it (not just this brand, but any brand). Perlite is volcanic glass that has been expanded by heat to make it porous. It can be very dangerous if it gets into your lungs. I've gotten bad headaches from perlite, but I read that it can also make you cough up blood. When handling it, I wear a cloth over my face now to be safe. As an inert substrate, it's safe in your soil and won't get sucked up into your plant. Just remember to wash edibles well!

Always mix this into your grow medium!
Great stuff! My last plants I didn't mix enough perlite into the soil and I regretted it. Poor drainage and soil stayed wet longer than I prefer. I like to mix in about 30% perlite into the soil.

Don't order the 2 pack
Don't order the 2-pack unless you want to receive a 2 pack of soil instead. I tried twice and both times got soil. It was more effort than it was worth to return them, especially since soil is always useful. I was more annoyed at having to keep waiting for my perlite. Either its sku is mislabeled in the system, or someone at the warehouse can't read. The product is fine, as long as you order it one bag at a time.

Organic, clean, gardening staple Perlite
Great to add to potting soil to make it less nutrient dense, and increase its air and water permeability. Perlite acts like a sponge that will absorb a little water without becoming waterlogged and release it slowly over a few days. Will also keep the soil from compacting due to repeated watering.Depending on the plant you can add other soil amendments, but most commercial potting mixes are too rich especially for growing from seed.

Light and airy
I mixed this 50/50 with soil to root some cuttings. It worked great to lighten up the soil for easy rooting. It's a much better option than miracle grow which is full of chemicals.

A lot of the perlite in my bag was just dust, but still got plenty of use out of what there was. Using this in my succulents' soil mix!

Good Stuff, good price
If you're a Gardener this stuff is probably in your garage already. I don't put a plant in a container without this stuff mixed into my soil. Less expensive online than the local home depot.
