Japanese Weeding Tool Very Sharp Edge Nejiri Gama

I love the precision and the sharpness of the blade. It made weeding extremely easy compared to the $50 Fiskars 4 claw standup weeder, which is great for 1 large weed but useless if there is a cluster of weeds. The Hachiemon weeding tool is great for a single weed and clusters. I cleared my front yard this summer with the help of this tool before reseeding. Highly recommend this.

This tool easily slices through the dirt, getting under the roots of small weeds so you can just pick up the loose weeds for a super clean garden. The pointy end works well for grass clumps or weeds with deeper roots. Weeds are sneaky and often try to grow right alongside the plants but you can get close to the plant without damaging it with this precision tool.

I've tried many garden weeding tools before and this is clearly the best. Very sturdy, well made, and ergonomic. I have a garden full of spiny succulents and I appreciate the fine point on this tool that lets me reach for weeds next to a spiny plant, without risking injury to my hand.

I usually don't like just cutting weeds, but I've been incapacitated for a couple of years and my preferred method of pulling weeds (get the roots!!) now takes too long. This tool will definitely help you with getting the weeds under control. I even like using it, even though I wish I were not so incapacitated. I wish that it were available as a long-handled version. I have a hard time (I'm 80 with two recent back operations) getting up from kneeling. I'm now writing an addition to my original review. I've used this tool for my gardening last year and this year, especially this year. I really am handicapped for normal gardening with 4 titanium rods and 18 titanium screws in my back. I can't bend over to pick anything g up very easily. It's an effort. This tool makes the necessary weeding of any gardening possible. I never liked cutting weeds - I preferred pulling them out, roots and all - but I haven't got the stamina that I used to have (I'm 80) and this tool does a decent job of weeding, and it's versatile and quick. I wholeheartedly recommend this tool to any gardeners out there who, lioje me, need some help in what used to be actually a pleasure (pulling weeds) but this is now not possible. This tool is a good alternative to a necessity of gardening that I can no longer manage. Another addition - I really like this tool and I wondered if it came in a long-handled version so that I could weed sitting on a stool rather than kneeling. (Because of my back operations I have much trouble getting up from a kneeling position.). So I fell for an ad on amazon for a longer handled "weeding sickle." I got it a few days ago and I tried using it today. Rip-off!! This "tool" is nonsense. It can't be used in any way similar to this very useful tool that I just described. Its construction is totally wrong for any kind of weeding. The blade is in the same plane as the handle. There is no bite possible into the soil to cut the weeds. It;s only use is as a classical sickle. That is, you could harvest wheat or rice with it, but you'll leave some inches of stem above the soil. Weeding involves cutting at the soil level. This is impossible with the tool I bought (for nearly $50!!!). To use it as a weeder would necessitate that one dig 4-foot trenches all over ones garden to have a chance at getting the right angle for cutting weeds at soil level. I'm going to insist that amazon accepts a return and refunds me the purchaser price. The tool (???) being offered is useless for anything that after 50 years of gardening I understand as "weeding."

LOVE this tool. High quality go to tool for loosening soil, removing weeds, even digging holes for planting plants. I reach for it on every trip to the garden and after over a year of being well used, feels like new.

It is a nice tool to have in the garden. Blade is sharp, is lightweight and easy to swing. However maybe I have worked it too hard. The metal ring to reinforce the connection between the metal blade and wood handle came off after less than 2 months of use. I managed to slid it back in place and wrapped a rubber band around it. One of the reasons I bought is because it daid it is made in Japan. I'm disappointed that the craftsmanship is not high quality.

Wow, those Japanese inventors really know how to build a gardening tool that has changed my life!! I have so many weeds in my garden, especially crab grass, which is relentless. It’s almost beaten me into gardening retirement, but not anymore!! This little weeder has a powerful blade and an ease of use that has allowed me to make waste of so much crab grass with much less effort. Of course, it will be back again in the spring, but at least I have a chance to keep up with it, and even make progress. I do not use toxic weed killers, so love this alternative that is so fast and effective. It is sharp, keep away from children!!

This little hand tool is a game changer. We live on a half acre lot which was neglected for at least the past 20 years. After clearing tons of large growth, we were left with weedy overgrown 80 year old borders. This little tool has cleared every one of them. It is well balanced and super sharp. It cuts through and digs out the most stubborn weeds and crab grass. I love the way I can chop, scrape, dig out and break up any soil. It gets into the tightest spots easily. It chops through brambles, medium sized roots, and any weed. It’s basically an extension of my hand when I’m gardening. I love it so much I bought one for each of my gardening sisters-in-law.

Brilliant tool, my favourite and the one I reach for ALL Season long. Breaks up soil, easily disturbs weeds - even big deep ones. Perfect tool of tidying edges, cuts roots for transplanting and in a pitch helps planting annuals. Ive gifted this tool to friends. Love it.

I’ve now been using this tool for most of the summer. It enables me to cultivate around my plants regardless of the soil condition. I’ve been able to get down and pull out an awful lot of bindweed. It allowed me to break up so not so great soil so that I could amend it and do planting if you have one tool that you’ll use this is it. Beautiful quality, nice sharp blade. I cannot recommend this enough.

Ordered one. Inspected and used. Wow, cuts through weeds at soil level like butter. Ordered another. Will put longer handle on second one. I have large hands so added a rubber bicycle hand grip ordered on Amazon. Around $10 for four handle pack. These were just under 1” bore. See photo for the installed handle grip. Much better for me. Rubber handle is easy to put on. Start end of grip on handle. Place cutting head with its sheath on on the floor. Pull rubber at entry point while smacking the end of rubber handle with the flat of your palm. The inrush of air into the small hole in end of handle “fluidizes” the air space around the wooden handle and you will note it creeping downward. It’s effective. Be patient and you will achieve great results. The first photo shows the two tools back to back. Note the superb attachment to handle. Front and back. I bought these for this reason. This attachment is far, far superior to other similar tools where a round handle is welded at one point. That is guaranteed to fail and break at the weld. A superb garden tool. Love it. Clean carefully after use. Lightly oil and sharpen if necessary. Sheath it and definitely keep out of reach of children. The cutting edge is razor sharp. Use it only wearing proper footgear. No sandals, exposed toes etc. Boots or leather shoes preferred. This is an effective ground cover at soil cutting and removal tool. Gets a 10 from me!

I really like this tool, it has sharp blade and the angle is perfect for weeding! I bought a second one for a gift!

This year I've been so much busier than usual. Juggling a full-time job and a newborn, my garden has taken a neglectful hit. I bought this weeding sickle and it works incredibly well. As long I take care of it, and keep it sharp, it will save me a lot of weeding time. I'm guessing it can rust easily, so I take care of the blade as I would a knife. The blade has held up against stones here and there as well. Very pleased with this purchase.
