Concise, organized and well structured. Exactly what a busy parent needs
I heard of this book from the mighty girl mailing list. There were other books about the same topic and I read the sample to choose which one I was going to buy and finish reading. From the sample I could already tell this book was well structured and organized.I could completely relate to the examples given, but this time I found clear and simple antidotes presented in the book, which I did not have as a child but will fortunately have when my daughter needs help herself. The first part of the book details how to talk to children. I had already read all the books from the "How to talk so kids will listen" series, but this book presents the topic in a more clear and more concise way. And it is helpful to use these techniques not only with young girls, but with everyone. In fact, this part alone was worth the purchase.

Very helpful book
Book arrived in great condition. Good book and easy to read. It really helped us to get perspective, as well as look out for some signs in our own kids.

Personally, I think everyone should read a book like this - great alone for highlighting the issue of unintential meanness in little girls and fab tips (even if you don't completely follow the plan) of what to do if your daughter is having friendship issues, which is not uncommon!! I use tips from this book everyday with my 2 girls, even for minor friendship discussions.

Buy It!!! You won't regret it!
This book is extremely well written. It is easy to read with very practical hands on ideas that you can use right away. I like how it presents various type of situations and how a parent, teacher and even the child can deal with what is happening. I really like how the author tries to help you see both sides (the mean girl and the girl she's being mean to). I also like how the emphasis in the book is the relationship between the parent and child and what can be done to strengthen that bond so that you can be your child's best ally in helping them deal with what is going on. This book was written about girls but you could use the same problem solving techniques in any situation no matter what the gender. Another feature that I like is that it assumes that the child may even read along with you and the book actually speaks to them and gives them ideas that they can use to help them to successfully navigate the trouble they find themselves in. I just can't say enough good things about this book.

I'm still reading this but I really find the information given so far to be very valuable as I try to navigate through the Grade 2 social structure and challenges my daughter faces daily. I can tell already that this book will be a very valuable resource as my daughter advances through elementary school and I find myself taking notes and using the suggestions daily. Based on what I've read so far (about 2/3) I would recommend this book to any parent or teacher who wants to empower and give our girls the tools they need to foster healthy relationships.
