I love this book

This book was recommended to me by a good friend and I was not disappointed with the content. The author exposes and questions so many things in our daily lives. To find that place where we can truly be satisfied with who we are and the things in our life.Evoking self examination by meditation to find the answers that is within your heart and really look at it, make changes even if necessary. To really know yourself and be happy with who you are.This is a book that will not be put away on a shelf and be forgotten, it will be reopen, reread and rediscover the complexities of myself to come to a place where I am truly happy. Always searching and discovering the possibilities that is out there, beckon me to take. Risking everything to be true to myself.Well written the author takes you on a journey, telling her own tale as examples of the message she wants to bring. Humble and sincere in her writing style.A Great self discovery book for every person that is in search for the meaning of life and why you exist.

One of my leaders was reading this book and I became curious about it. Profound is an understatement.From the book: "It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.... I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life's betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain...."This book challenges you to explore your life, to stop living small, and to really connect with people. It is a simple reminder that life isn't about things, but about really pursuing our heart's desire. In the end, it's about being able to say yes to the question "Did I love well?" I found myself doing one chapter at a time in the evening, then coming back to re-read it again. Such a worthy read and I am so blessed that someone suggested it.

My fault for not seeing how long this book was, but it is rather overpriced considering. The content is incredible so I can’t say I regret it

Really like the meditations at the end of each chapter.The Invitation really makes you think about your life and how you feel and interact with others

A friend shared the poem "The Invitation" that offered me something too pure to pass up. One might think the book would be far fetched new age writings, without understanding the origins of the author's name. But Oriah's writings will strip you naked in a gentle way and let you see your faults. She also entertains with examples from her own life that show her humanness and mistakes. I have been working on boundary issues in my life. This book helped me realize that in order to be true to myself, I may have to choose to disappoint others. Oriah's writings are deep and wise. Yet, her quest for peace in her life is common to us all. Sometimes I felt her right in my head and in my heart. How could someone understand me so well? I recommend this book for anyone on a path to learn who they really are.

Uno de los libros más bonitos que podrás leer. Lástima que hayan quitado todas las versiones en español o italiano. Se me hizo un poco más difícil terminarlo. Pero Oriah Mountain Dreamer me ha conquistado con estas páginas.

Awesome book. Cannot believe he did not know of it before now. Gave two away as gifts to my spiritually aware friends.

I love this book. The direct-to-the-substance writing makes it very easy to read without loosing its deep meaning. Inspiring, awesome way of looking for intimacy and for a fully living of life. Useful meditation guide.

Einfach Super! Ich LIEBE dieses Buch! Es ist nicht nur etwas zum einmal -Lesen, sondern auch zum immer-wieder-Lesen! Das Gedicht "The Invitation"- das Gerüst zum Inhalte des Buches- ist einfach ein "Leitfaden"! Die Thematik ist immer aktuell und egal aus welche Situation heraus man sich mit dem Buch beschäftigt- es gibt mir immer etwas, immer stosse ich auf etwas Neues und immer wieder sind die Meditationen und Anleitungen und Reflexionen darin wertvolle Hilfe und Unterstützung im Alltag.Bitte in Englisch lesen- die deutsche Übersetzung leidet etwas meiner Meinung nach....

When I read this book, it felt like it was the book I'd been waiting for my whole life. I'm finding it difficult to put into words, but it seems to celebrate the human experience on every level, from the higher spiritual to the physical everyday. This is probably best illustrated by one of my favourite passages from the book about beauty: 'Seeing beauty is not about narrowing our vision, designating only some of its manifestations as worthy. It means expanding our definition of beauty, suspending our judgments, and appreciating both the quiet joy of riding a bicycle along the lake and the raunchy glee of driving a cherry-red sports car that hugs the open highway.'There are many other equally lovely passages, and Oriah seems to write with great openness, honesty, and humanity.
