Solid Oak Pre-Finished (Lacquered) 900mm Twin 'T' Moulding/Profile/Cover Strip/Threshold/Door Bar with Plastic Fixing Strip

Not cheap, but does the job extremely well.

This door bar was better than I expected. Solid oak with a perfect finish and very easy to fit and looks good.

This cover strip / threshold looks good in the pre-finished version and is well finished with no rough pieces. Easy to cut to size but fitting was another story. Using the offcut (about 4” / 10cm) the plastic fixing strip was relatively easy to push together and harder to separate - as it should be. The sides of the U section had clamping teeth and were narrower at the open top than the bottom. However once the fixing strip was screwed into the gap between the 2 sets of oak flooring, it was very difficult to assemble. I had to hit the cover strip hard with a wooden mallet to engage one end in the fixing and equally hard to get it to engage all along the length starting from the engaged end. In fact, I unfortunately split the opposite end of the cover strip - fortunately this was at the door hinge end so not particularly visible Having to hit the strip so hard it was my concern that one of the thin top pieces would split along the grain. I suspect that once screwed to a solid base the fixing strip is far less flexible for fitting the cover hence the force needed to assemble. In hindsight - a wonderful thing - I should have sanded a chamfered edged on the base of the T to ease the cover strip into the fixing strip.Once fitted the cover strip looks very good at the door threshold between hall and room but extreme care is necessary when fitting the cover to the fixing strip to prevent splitting.

having tried the big box diy stores in the first instance and found nothing of decent quality i took a chance on this order- a chance as the quality engineered oak floor was already down and i was concerned there would be colour mismatch between oaks. was impressed by the delivery speed, item arrived packed in a sturdy tube and overall quality is excellent. dont waste time looking at plastic fake veneers when you can get something of superior quality

Easy to install looks good when installed.

The moulding is used to cover a large gap between two different floor coverings. Easy to cut to size and fit.

Looks great. We just cut it to size and clued it down. Didn't use the plastic channel thing.
