We are using this for temporary traction on an inside stairway and so far it is working fine for that use.

it arrived just in time-I don't need to salt the area-just lay this down on snow or ice. when it has melted, I roll it up and wait for the next slick snow/ice mix and lay it down again.

Not good, it tore apart the first time used, and my Brother and siter in law complained that it was dangerous.

We have a couple of dogs, and they tend to run up the deck steps when ready to come in. This is not usually a problem, except when we've had some ice or snow that has melted and the frozen, then they tend to go sliding. Putting this at the top of the deck steps to our back door has eliminated this problem. And it seems to feel better on their feet. It does it's job, however it does tend to tear a bit easily, so the reason for only 4 stars. If they could make it a bit more durable, then it'd get 5 stars.Update: Can't stick with 4 stars. The idea is nice but the item is not very durable and I've had to throw mine in the trash. The ice carpet has ripped in several places and it sheds. We've also had some pretty good winds and one needs something to anchor it down so as not to have it blow away.

I haven't used this yet but it sure seems like a good idea. I have an area of concrete where the sun does not hit and ice stays there forever. There is also a step there and i worry about falls. I do not like to use salt because of the plants and Kitty litter and sand are messy and get dragged into the house. This runner is inexpensive enough to give it a try. I hope it works!!

I get one of these every year to make my ramp slip-proof. After a season it breaks down a bit, but works great in the garden over garden weed prevent cloth, or under. Worth every penny.

Reading the reviews, it's evident that people just put this this out there and let snow and ice accumulate. I think the point of this rug is to place it on top of snow and ice, therefore you should pick it up and place in your garage during a snow event. Shoveling over the top of it defeats the purpose. I live in MN, I should know. This has made taking the dog outside a lot easier. It seems to me it will last for a long time if you have the desire and time to pick it up during a snowfall and place back down later.
