Antarctic Explorer Map; (Ocean Explorer Maps)

This is a great map! It will go with me on my trip to Antarctica. Good maps included of the Falkland and So Georgia Islands with enlargement of the peninsula area most travelers visit. I expect it to be very useful while there. Right now it is a great reference as I read through Cruising Antarctica and locate all the places mentioned. I'm thinking I'll feel well oriented when I get there and as the trip progresses.

One of the best Antarctic maps! I had bought this before my trip, and used it daily to help me see where we were, and also read about the history and men and women who had travelled and explored in these places. I realized how helpful this map was when I saw it being offered for sale in our cruise ship's gift shop.

A very helpful map, especially for people planning a trip to Antarctica. Map is on good quality paper. One side is a large, general map of the continent with photos and short descriptions of the various Antarctic explorers. The other side are closeup maps of the areas generally visited by Antarctic tourists, interspersed with photos of birds, mammals and landscapes of the area.

A great, detailed map. Very comprehensive with insets. The list of explorers and their short biographies helps to understand how Antarctica is controlled by treaty today. As it turns out, this is the only map that was sold onboard the ship that we sailed on.

BIG when open, lots of quick history surrounds the map so you can see who landed where when. I'll be taking it with me to Antarctica.

We will take this with us to Antarctica to see where we are. Great reference!

This is not a map in any useful sense of the word. Lots of bios of explorers around a single map of the entire continent on one side. Lots of wildlife photos on the other side. Not any useful detail of the peninsula. I was expecting a map. This is not a useful map.

If you are interested in the vast wilderness of Antarctica and the history of it’s exploration then this is a great buy. Packed with information about the key personalities responsible for exploring and opening up the continent as well as being a good map . Personally it’s made me want to visit Vostok , the Russian scientific base which, being in the centre of the continental ice-field, has to be about the most desolate and remote inhabited place on earth !!!
