My Treasury of Five-Minute Tales

My granddaughter lives in Australia, and I am in the US. She has this book, so I bought the same one and we read together on Skype. She is 3-1/2 and doesn't want to sit still very long to talk to Grandma, but she loves books so we read together now. I love it. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5: this used book had something sticky along the edges of the cover, which was a bit annoying, and the stories, because they are shortened versions of familiar children's stories, are sometimes oddly surprising.

my 2 yr old daughter really enjoyed it when i told her the story of Goldilocks. to be honest i was winging it so i bought this book for her and i to read together. it is beautifully bound and illustrated. some to the stories require a little bit of editing on the parents part for the young children. still a great collection of classic stories.

I was looking for a book of fairy tales including Rapunzel for my 4.5yr old. She liked Rapunzel, but I made the mistake of reading her stories from the book I had not read beforehand. It's hard to real time edit a story about a wolf eating a family baby goats when she is looking at the illustrations. We have had 2 nights of nightmares since that story time, and the book is out of the house now. We are planning a trip to the bookstore to carefully select another fairytales book. (" with NO Wolves" - the 4.5yr old)I also noticed some typos in the story of the 3 little pigs, I didn't read many other stories in the book so I can not comment on those.It is too bad the book had such a negative impression, the illustrations were beautiful.

My granddaughter loves this book. The little match girl still makes her cry, but it is one of her favorite stories.

Some of the stories are really depressing like the "one with Tin soldier' and 'shoemaker girl'. I don't think these are suitable for my toddler or any kid in general.The other book I had the 'Animal stories and nursery rhymes' is really good and I would recommend that.

my three year old girls ask me to read from this book almost every day. an instant favorite! well written.

Came promptly in great condition and I am able to listen to my grandchildren read and I can follow and I can read them bedtime stories via a video link. This also means they can see the pictures. So great all round! Thank you

Lovely book of stories with colourful illustrations, My 5year old loves this book and the stories are just the right size for a good bedtime read.

Arrived in good condition, very pleased thank you. Brought back memories as I had lost this book a few years ago. Great I managed to get it again!

Was not in "very good" condition; had ordered it for a gift and could not use it. Was very disappointed. My copy is better than the one that I received.....even had writing on the inside cover.
