Love it
Bought the Lena cup specifically as it was advertised as sensitive and its my first time using a cup again since having a baby and I must say that it is exactly as advertised. It's incredibly comfortable and easy to place and no leaks at all. Highly recommend!

Outstanding customer service
I had trouble with my Lena cup fitting properly, and received outstanding customer service from this company. They provided lots of advice on how to use the cup, and ultimately when I was still having difficulties, sent an alternative cup for free to see if this one worked better for me.I cannot recommend them enough.

Amazing customer service
I was a first time menstrual cup user and it takes some getting used to! Luckily the Lena team are so helpful. They are so lovely and helpful and reply to emails really quickly which makes getting to grips with using a cup much easier. The cup was larger and former than I expected but then I didn’t really know what to expect! I have ended up switching to a different Lena cup for comfort but if you have any questions before buying - email them - they are so helpful! I would definitely recommend Lena cups.

Ok
I ordered a L based on looking into the cup & customer service agreement. I’m a first time user but have watched many YouTube videos and googling etc. This cup seems to sit on my bladder, making urinating very slow.It doesn’t always pop & requires a lot of fiddling (pressing the walls to try make extra room for it to expand).I’ve tried the different fold methods, inserting lower and higher (it couldn’t go any lower without it showing!). Emptying several times a day to try and get used to it or to correct leaking (cup not full)Customer service went over a few techniques to try, which I have done.I’d like to try the Small cup as I’ve read these issues could be due to incorrect size & I’d also like to try it on lighter days, but seems that they actually want L returned to them although it’s been used!! Apparently it will be destroyed but that is completely gross and something I’m definitely not comfortable with!I went with this brand for their 100% satisfaction guarantee - but I’m not satisfied at all.Edit:::They have now offered a full refund so I can purchase the size S without returning the L.The S has been great, it doesn’t press on my bladder & actually unfolds so much easier

Really comfortable and easy to use.
I was a bit dubious at first as I tend to be really heavy the first few days and leak a lot. So I made sure I had extra protection but I need not have worried as I have not leaked since I bought this. It’s easy to fit and really you don’t notice it once it is in. I had a couple of issues with getting it out mostly because the suction was too good and I could not get a decent grip but just used a bit of tissue and it was fine. I really like this.

Good cup but…
Good cup but makes it really hard to pee or have a bowel movement

Great for me, great for the environment
Love this item, can be difficult to remove some time if it moves slightly to the side. Once it’s in you can just forget you have your period for most of the day, you can’t even feel it once it’s in position and it can be left in for up to 12 hours meaning you can go about your day without having to worry about being near a bathroom with a sanitary disposal

Second Time Buyer
This is my second Lena cup. I was struggling with my size small cup after the birth of my child. After a decade of NEVER leaking, I had constant leakage after my period returned postpartum. A mom friend suggested getting a large size cup. I hadn’t thought of that since I had a c-section, but apparently all that anatomy still changes after baby even without a vaginal birth… who knew! It was harder to get the larger cup in place, but could have been due to (again) changing anatomy. Amazingly, the leakage stopped! I do find that the large cup slides out easier than the small cup did. I have to reposition the large cup every time I use the bathroom, and I could go hours without having to reposition the small cup. One mistake I made with my small cup was cutting off the stem which I regretted for years. I did not make the mistake with the large cup. And the large cup is still the great quality I’ve come to expect from Lena!

I liked the small better, but this large will be perfect for after I have children!
I first learned about menstrual cups when I saw that the period subscription box I was using offered Softcups. I was intrigued by the concept, so I gave them a try...and I loved them! This led me to look into reusable cups. Softcups are shaped and function very differently than reusable cups, so I did quite a bit of research before settling on Lena cups. The main cup that comes to mind when people mention menstrual cups is the Diva cup; however, I learned that Diva cups are some of the largest menstrual cups available, and that they're not a great fit for everyone. The cup has to be small enough to properly expand and lightly suction to the walls of your vagina. If it's too large, it won't seal and can collapse, which causes leaks and is also uncomfortable. Since I wasn't really sure how to measure myself, I didn't want to risk wasting a good bit of money on a cup that might be too big. So, I spent hours researching for some of the smallest cups I could find. I compared the width of the rim and the length of the body (not including the stem) of so many brands. It was actually a lot harder than I thought it would be since many brands don't list the measurements. It's great that most brands have a large and a small option, but one brand's small can be larger than another brand's large, which is maddening! For example, the small Diva is 43mm wide and 53mm long, while the large Lena cup is smaller at 45mm wide and 50.7mm long. The small Lena is 41mm wide and 46mm long, so it is significantly smaller than the small Diva. I believe the small Lena is a much better size for first-time users, unless you are absolutely certain that your cervix sits high during menstruation and can use a longer cup. Other things to consider when choosing a cup are what it's made of, where it was made, and what safety standards it meets. Lena cups are made of medical grade silicone, are made in the USA, and are FDA-registered, so I was confident that it was safe to use. Now, for what I love about my SMALL Lena cup (details for this large at the bottom, but this list still mostly applies to it):• No more leaks!!! I've never had a leak during the day or even overnight, and I can actually wear nice underwear with confidence knowing that they won't be ruined. It holds so much more than the tampons I was using. When I first starting using this cup, I emptied it every few hours (like I did with tampons), and it was nowhere close to being full. I can safely go all day without having to empty the cup.• No more dealing with my period in a public restroom! I only have to empty it when I wake up and right before bed, which is the best thing ever! I can't even express how much I love not having to deal with it during the day. Public bathrooms are already not ideal, so not having to worry about changing a tampon is a huge plus! On heavy days (which are rare), I might have to empty it once during the day, but I literally have never needed to empty it in a public restroom in the 17 months that I've been using this cup...compared to changing tampons every few hours. If I do need to empty it in a public restroom, it's nice that I don't need to carry anything with me, and it's no messier than changing a tampon.• Better for my vagina! Tampons don't discriminate when they're absorbing, so they can really dry you out (and anyone who has ever pulled out a dry tampon knows how freaking painful that it is!). That messes with pretty much everything up there, especially the good bacteria and your pH level. They also increase your risk of developing toxic shock syndrome (TSS) because they absorb and trap any bad bacteria. Cups don't mess with any of that. Since they don't absorb anything, your vagina remains unchanged, so there's no bounce-back time after your period where it needs to rebuild the supply of good bacteria and get back to a healthy pH level. Your risk of developing TSS is also much, much lower, so menstrual cups are safer to use over longer periods of time.• Better for the environment and my wallet! I love that there's no trash (wrapper, applicator, the tampon itself) each time I use my cup. When you think about the thousands of tampons you'd use throughout your life, that's a lot of waste that won't end up in a landfill. And for the price of a few boxes of tampons, you'll get years of use out of a cup (as long as you take care of it). I'm saving a ton of money by not buying tampons every month, and I'm reducing the amount of waste I produce, so that's a win-win.I really don't have any negatives for my small cup. It has some minor staining after 17 months of use, which is completely normal and will happen with any cup you buy. I'm sure a dilute hydrogen peroxide soak will make it look brand new again. I recently bought some backup Lena cups, so I've included pictures of the new ones (a small pink compared to this large clear). I was curious to try the large, since the small works so well. It did fully open, but it was harder to remove because there was more suction and it was just a bigger cup to remove. I probably could have worn it with no problems once I got used to it. However, I will continue to use my smalls, and I will just keep the large for after I have children. I also showed what the rim of the large looks like for two different folds (the C/U fold and the origami fold) so you can see approximately what size it'll be for inserting it. Keep in mind there are many different ways to fold a cup, and it's completely up to personal preference. If you've read through this mini-essay of a review, I hope it helped! The condensed version is that I cannot recommend Lena cups enough! They have truly changed everything about my period experience, and I no longer dread when it arrives. Do your research, look up tips, watch YouTube videos, and give them a try!!

Learning curve but worth it
I kept seeing people speak of a learning curve. As a college grad I thought "oh please, how hard can it be?!?" I laugh now because I've already cried.First off, I love this product, even after normal new user issues. Finding your fold type then figuring out if you should stand, sit or squat.. Hilarious journey and I recommend a modified sumo pose personally. Don't hover over the toilet or sit; the origami folded mentrual cup WILL find a way to explode out of your hand and plop into the bowl.Do take the quiz on the website for sizing it is helpful. However, it recommends a large even of you HAVE NOT given birth vaginally. With this I will say I found the large too large even with my extra heavy flow. The cup felt like a cork plug, can sit very uncomfortably, and hurt with removal. As it was the wrong size it couldn't suction to create the impenetrable barrier and I would leak like crazy. After going down 1 size I went from a 0% "installation" success rate to a solid 90% first try and little to no leaking.Good luck and remember this is the healthier option for our bodies so the initial frustrations will be worth it.I gave 4 stars because I am just getting the hang of it and sizing recommendation issues.

I don't know why I waited so long to try this.
This review will be lengthy and detailed. If you're unable to discuss menstrual processes, please discontinue reading.Packaging: It comes in an easy to open box, with a cloth pouch to keep the cup dust free. I store it in the pouch inside the box.Instructions: They are included in a booklet and very plainly written. The explanations are also thorough and the recommendations for how to fold and insert the cup into the vaginal canal are very useful. Read through the booklet before use, as there are some tips and suggestions that I found extremely helpful. You might as well. Keep in mind that if you vary slightly from what the book explains, that is fine. All bodies are different, and you may need to adjust your method accordingly.Product: The cup is made of soft silicone. It's flexible and very sturdy. You will see a series of small holes at the top under the lip of the cup; those are for suction. You may assume the strength of the material will feel uncomfortable, but it is most definitely not. The bottom of the cup has an elongated nib used to position and pull the cup forward. It's also useful for insertion, to guide the cup into the most comfortable and best position to catch your flow. It is no longer than an average tampon and the width of the opening is not large.First Use: I washed the cup thoroughly with hot water and anti bacterial soap. The silicone bends and flexes incredibly well and I spent some time trying the flexibility before insertion. The booklet recommends trying the cup before your period to determine the best method for insertion, the depth and also to let one test out how to fit the cup without the mess of blood everywhere. I did this and was able to work with the "7 fold" the best.Use with Menstrual Cycle: Again, I washed the cup thoroughly with hot water and antibacterial soap and folded it into the shape of a 7, inserted with a leg propped up. I was luckily in the shower, so this was an extremely convenient time to start my period. Once inside, I had to insert a finger to move the fold over and then the nib to move the entire cup into place. It conformed to walls of my canal nicely and the flex of the silicone meant I could leave the nib out a bit and it is not uncomfortable. I slept through the entire night with no leaks. The booklet recommends removal for cleaning and dumping the blood no more than every 12 hours, which is perfect for me. Removal goes as such - relaxed muscle, find nib and move side to side, push muscles as one would expect to have to do during the birthing process, find the ribbed butt of the cup, SQUEEZE (I put that in caps because if you don't pinch the bottom of the cup, you are not going to be able to remove the cup at all and that could potentially tear the vaginal tissue so please remember to squeeze) and pull "bottom first" meaning you want to pull it out so that your blood will flow into the toilet. I noticed a ring of tissue around the rim, which is to be expected as discharge during period is quite normal. Please note that your blood should not have the usual period smell, but rather a slightly metallic odor and your blood may be black or a very dark red as the cells die quickly. Clean with soap and hot water, ensuring a thorough rinse and then insert as you had the first time. You're solid for 12 hours.Observations: I am 36, no kids. My vaginal canal is still rather small, and I found the larger size to be slightly uncomfortable, causing a very mild pressure in my abdomen. I cannot say for certain that this is due to the cup, as I generally get that feeling during my period, however. The product is not difficult to use, but relaxing and concentration are a must. I chose not to cup the nib at all, as I find it very useful when removing. The cup cleans easily as water and blood tend to bead right off. I have experienced no other discomfort, and am very happy to be pad and tampon free.Pros: There is no uncomfortable "period" feeling as with pads or tampons. I do not worry about odor, or soaking through a tampon, bleeding through my pants or ruining my underwear. I also don't have the uncomfortable tampon fit, which is wonderful! no panty liner, which is also great. The nib does not stick out at all and I basically don't feel anything unusual. I sincerely wish I purchased this ages ago. Do yourself a favor and purchase a cup, if not this exact brand. There is a customer service line, and they have a website with some amazing feedback and reviews.Con: I bought the large, and while it is a tad too big, I was concerned about the seal not working and this seemed ideal. I have a condition wherein my bladder lining is inflamed, causing me to feel the urge to urinate all the time. The cup makes it slightly worse, but it's not unbearable. And that's nothing against the cup itself, but my own condition.I will not be using pads or tampons again if I can help it.

Switch Now Or Forever Regret Your Decision
I wish I had known about this or that it was available when I was younger. Knowing I spent 30 years putting bleached cotton and other hazardous materials in or near my vagina is infuriating. Just one use of this product and I experienced a world of difference. No mess in the bathroom, no smell, no harm to My Cat and best of all the period was 'different' without putting all that dioxin, bleach and viscose rayon into the walls of my cervix my body kept it's own moisture. The tampons soak up more than just blood. The materials in tampons suck the natural lubrication and water out of your cervical walls. I recovered quickly from my period and so did my body because it didn't have to go through the stage of putting water back and getting the 'juices' flowing again. I can't say enough about The Cup. I have only tried LENA. If LENA is not for you, try another until you get what fits you right or what works for you but for the sake of your health and your cervix DUMP those toxic materials now.A cup would be perfect for a young woman using chemical contraceptives. Light periods would do fine with the cup for 12 hours. However, I'm an older woman who has given birth and I do not use contraceptives; therefore, my periods are horrendous. I can soak a super plus tampon and an over night pad in 45-75 minutes on my heaviest days. Which puts me getting up 4 times at night. Blood loss and lack of sleep would make me one tired lady. The first week I had LENA I started my period. I was nervous because I just couldn't see myself putting anything up there without a 'syringe' I never understood how women used OB. Cleaning blood out from my fingernails every time I inserted didn't seem like fun. I watched all the videos and folded and unfolded the cup as shown. I was so nervous I put lube on it the first time and it popped right out of my hand! I quickly learned without the chemicals sucking my own moisture away it glides in easily without any trouble. The videos repeatedly say, "Relax your pelvic floor" you can't be all nervous and tight when you try to put this in. If you are relaxed it glides in easily and seems to 'suck right up there.' Happily, you can pee, you can even pooh if you eat a good diet. If you sit in the toilet for 30 minutes pushing it's best to remove LENA. I lift heavy weights 3 times a week and LENA stayed in place without leaking. The days the period became heavy I had to change LENA every 3-4 hours. I paid attention to my body and I could feel LENA 'slip down' a bit when it became full. At night I only had to wake up once. I had some leakage during two nights. The second night I put an organic bamboo washcloth in my underwear to catch the leak. I'm an extremely light sleeper so I can feel it as soon as it leaks out. I have since purchase reusable products for these nights from a dealer who sells organic non toxic overnight pads and panty liners. You could easily make your own. I also have a box of Medline Exam Gloves - they are unnecessary but I like them, I also keep a Sitz bottle by the toilet to rinse before I put LENA back in it's place. Squirting the lukewarm water to remove any remaining blood drops helps to keep stains off my panties because I don't have to use liners with LENA. Every woman is different so figure out what's best for you. I decided to switch because the brand I have been loyal to for decades must have started moving their production overseas. The last 9 months the tampons I purchased looked the same but quality control was HORRIBLE. Tampons would not have a string or would be loaded in backwards or the string would be wrapped around the tampon. It was a nightmare. During the nighttime I would open the tampon and have to stick the end of the syringe to my mouth and suck in to feel if the string was there, if not I would place it to the side and open another. (I do not turn on the lights or I'd never get back to sleep) Too many times I would be squatting on the floor with a gloved hand up My Cat as far as I could trying to get a grasp on a tampon that didn't have a string. It wasn't just one box either. Or the same store. I started thinking if it was this bad, what else have they done to my beloved brand by shipping the production overseas? Harsher, cheaper chemicals? I was done. That's how I came to purchase LENA. NO MORE COMMIES KILLING US WITH TOXINS OUR GOVERNMENT ALLOWS THEM TO DUMP ON OUR SHORES!The only two organs in the human body that are self cleaning are the eyeball and the vagina. Would you place a tampon on your eyeball for 4 hours? For that matter STOP using any chemicals on the pink parts of your vagina. The mucus membranes clean themselves. If you think you stink cleaning it only makes it worse in the long run. It's like people who over wash their hair have to wash it everyday or it's greasy. Stop miss treating your Lady Parts!
