GRADOPrestige Red Moving Magnet Cartridge

If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive cartridge, look no further. Yes, there is a smidgen of hum when it near the motor on my Rega P3. Yes, the treble could be clearer and more spacious, and the bass more extended and defined. There could be a more spacious atmosphere to the music. But that is comparing it against my upgraded Dynavector 20x2, which costs five times as much. Of the two? Actually, I prefer the Grado: it is simply more musical and engaging. For extended listening (4-5 hours) I'd chose the Dyno. But for the average hour's worth, the Grado wins every time. It has a middle section (strings, pianos, guitars) that is in a class of its own. Plus a wonderfully deep and involving bass. For sheer musicality, it simply can't be beaten. Seriously.

A little dull in higher frequencies but overall well worth buying.

Being an audiophile, I wanted a good needle so I could listen to my vinyl in crystal clarity but not spend a fortune on a cartridge/needle/stylus. I also wanted something that would be nice my records, so I looked up Grado. Though I am sure the gold, black, green, etc. would've been good, I thought I would spend a few extra bucks and get the red stylus. Man, was it worth the investment. It gives all of my music that 'warm' sound that vinyl enthusiasts talk about, the range of sound is amazing. no 'tinny' sounds, all the power of what a turntable system should sound like. people say 'dude are we listening to a cd?' I say, 'no, it's my turntable with a killer needle.' You won't be disappointed.

I must say this little American made needle and cartridge delivers what is promised and a little more. It snapped my old Enoch Light Orchestra, on the Command lable records, right back to the stereo high fidelity quality not seen since the release of these albums in the early 1960's. It also brought my Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin records back to life. This is a good buy for those of us who are into high fidelity but can't afford the stupid high prices for it. This needle and cartridge preforms in my oppinion as good or better than some of super expensive cartridges out there. I would buy this cartridge again if I got a new record player.

hard to mount but OK

Upgraded cartridge on my new Thorens TD190. Much better responce than original cartridge. Using this tuntable and cartridge to transfer all my LPs to MP3 using DAK.com mixer and software. Much better that a USB system!
