It is what they say it is. Some really great Georgetown. Some of the best stuff to knap. It came fast enough in these dark ages of shipping. Unfortunately the chunks I got were poorly spalled so got lots of less than fist sized cubes. That's ok too, but I think a good lot of them were freeze cracked. I would advise the seller to keep the mined product out of winter rain and freezing. All that said it's really good stone and the smaller pieces are still some of the best stuff to work with. Pic is from a work in progress that I shared with friends asking about the red stone I was abrading with, since I felt like I was trying to light a fire on my lap. Had a bad step at the base which made the notching tough. Not the rocks fault there. If the largest chunk is as good as I hope it is (that's right I edge) then I'll up the stars. I fear it too will have cracks. I'm positive I'll get several good blades out of it, just crossing my fingers for a longer one.

Georgetown flint is widely recognized as being excellent for knapping, and this is the best value I've been able to find online. And boy, it didn't disappoint! As you can see from the pics, I received nothing but large size chunks that I will be able to spall into plenty of good pieces. There was no noticeable damage from shipping, so kudos to the seller and USPS.I've just received the shipment, so haven't had a chance to crack into any of them yet, but on those pieces where the inner rock is exposed, you can see that it's the real deal. Beautiful, smooth, begging to be hit.It is NOT heat treated, but most folks say you can usually work this type of flint without it, and certainly it does look and feel that way so far.All in all I would absolutely recommend this seller and this flint! Can't get a better bang for your buck.

I work in outdoor education and our students are so fascinated with primitive technology. We spend some time learning about it and with this order, I should be able to help teach them some great new skills. I am going to teach a flint knapping workshop for the 4th graders when we do their big annual camping trip this spring. Thank you for this awesome product and know that it will be not only a great lesson for the kids but it will provide us all with a fond memories.

A lot of very good quality flint (chert). Throws lots of sparks for flint and steel fire starting. I'm not a flint knapper but the way this flint breaks it would seem to be pretty good for arrow heads. None of the pieces I received was more than about 8 inches long larger knapped items probably aren't possible. There is more material here than I will ever use making fire.

A good size box with fairly large pieces. My son was thrilled. He’s still working on them over a month later.
