... should say I do not think this sword is bad. It's pretty good for the money
I'm going to criticize this sword so you know what you're getting but I should say I do not think this sword is bad. It's pretty good for the money. Don't consider this battle ready but rather a good practice blade for HEMA or a nice decoration. The hilt is pretty good all around. The Tang appears to be threaded and doesn't rattle when hit. Wrapping and wire is tight around the grip and doesn't have any give. Quillions are a bit bulkier than they appeared but functional and has no rattle. The blade is more of a mixed bag and the sharpening job is pretty bad. It has a double tapered knife edge and the grind isn't very even. There are obvious hammer marks where the blade was being forged which means it wasn't cut from sheet steel which is a good sign. They could have been ground out in polishing better though. The Fuller's on the blade are a bit uneven but it isn't too badWhat about the sheath? It's overall pretty good. The throat chafe is tight and doesn't rattle but you can see the glue. It isn't totally even where it meets the quillions but the sword fits alright. In fact it's a very tight fit. Just be aware of that. Leather wrapping on the sheath is pretty solid over all.Handling? It's a bit of a clunky hand and a half sword. The grip is a bit shorter than you might expect. Expect to be exclusively gripping the pommel with your bottom hand. It's overall very handle heavy but not unusable. It would be a fine practice blade for HEMA.It has it's shortcomings but it's overall good for 110 bucks. From what I can tell this sword is from Windlass or at least an attempt at copying their sword of the same name.

I normally don't write reviews but this was such a disappointment I feel like i'm doing a good deed talking this product down. You may say to yourself it's a 100 dollar sword, what did you expect? I could live with the fact the handle was broken on arrival and the sheath fell apart, or the fact the blade is bent and so on as I planned on modifying this sword and training with it anyway, but the sword itself is over 8 pounds... 3 pounds 4 oz? thats why I got it, I thought I was getting a decent longsword style blade to work with, I cant get into HEMA with this garbage, get a tinker blade instead and stay away from this. I Wish I could get my money back, I bought it based on the weight lie.

Not worth even the cheep price
I wasn’t expecting much for a $100 sword but I didn’t expect straight lies over what I was getting. Wanted a Cheep hand and a half sword for cutting practice. What I got was a sword way too heavy to use. Upward of 8 pounds it is not usable in any practical way if you are looking to practice for HEMA. The metal is not any type of carbon or spring steel. Seems like stainless at best. The sharpening job was abysmal. They hacked and gouged the blade trying to get an edge. Came with an obvious burr that was nearly folded over. The tip was ground to an uneven rough edge that was so toothy it was like a serrated steak knife. Worst sharpening job I’ve ever seen. I would only recommend this sword if you are a beginner sharpener and want to practice restoring a chewed up blade.

This is a great sword for the money you spend.
Pros1.) this is a sturdy weapon, I could not see this breaking easily2.) It cuts very well (especially water bottles)3.) it is a beautiful sword and comes polished4.) It is full tang and battle ready.5.) it is hardened steel6.) this is a windlass steelcraft swordCons1.) very unbalanced (it feels very tip heavy, despite it only being 3 pounds 18 oz)2.) It has a rather short handle for a longsword (which it is modeled after a 15th century one) the pommel is awkward to hold3.) The blade is extremely difficult to sharpen ( but it does hold an edge)4.) there is a secondary edge bevel from it being belt grinded5.) The handle is round ( which is tricky to get used to for edge alignment)6.) this has no thrusting tip (it is a good cutter only)All in all for 100$ this is a rather inexpensive cutting sword that is worth the money. HOWEVER, keep in mind that these are hand forged in India and every sword may have different defects. This is a huge problem with windlass swords. So though I may have gotten a good sword you might have different issues. keep that in mind when buying this sword, it will not be perfect but it is only a 100$ sword.

Makes for a good "Witcher" sword, definitely not for history buffs.
To put this purchase into context, I bought this for my fully functional Witcher, School of the Bear set of armour. For the money spent, it's a good sword, but elegant isn't the word I would use... The pommel is a good shape and a great grip that has texture but won't tear up gloves or hands. I honestly really like the contrast between the cable and black leather on the grip, but the size is meant for a giant's hands! I'm a fan of the crossguard, it has the quintessential 15th century rings and the unique squared ends. The blade is, meh. Lots of material on this blade, making it heavy but thank God for the fuller! Super rough edge which I'll clean up, but sadly no distal taper. The balance isn't bad considering how heavy the overall weapon is. Functionally, it's definitely a two handed sword and that's where the pommel saves the day, since the grip is just a little too short! Overall, I love this sword for what it is and why I bout it! Very menacing sword with great aesthetics!

Not what is advertised
This is not a high carbon steel blade. In fact it is also not a blade at all. It is a 60$ piece of stainless steel with no bearings that it ever held semblance of an edge. The guard is brass with the flaking silver finish peeling before its even been unwrapped. The handle is rather nice although it hardly makes up for the lack of quality in all other advertised departments. Not sharp, not battle ready tempered, certainly not 1080 high carbon steel (I'd rate it 440 stainless) and above all not worth the price tag. Do not buy unless you are looking for a pretty wallhanger for a steep price
