Celebrate!: The Complete Jewish Holidays Handbook Paperback – October 1, 2000

I ordered this book because I had misplaced my "go to" guide, "Jewish Family Celebrations", by Arlene Rossen Cardozo, which is now out of print. Panicked, I wanted something in my hands to prepare for the holidays ahead. So, I ordered "Celebrate! The Complete Jewish Holidays Handbook." Reading the preview on Amazon was a great way to know what the book covered. The book arrived ahead of schedule which gave me more time to read and study the sections I needed. Compared to my stalwart Cardozo book, this new book "Celebrate!..." did not have the richness of Cardozo's anecdotes, stories and recipes. However, it was a better foundation book for me. While getting ready for the New Year, I actually found the Cardozo book. Rather than using one or the other, I decided to use both in conducting our family celebrations. Along side of the Cardozo book, my new Celebrate! book is now a staple in my Jewish library.

Very helpful to a newcomer. It contains marvelous overviews of the holidays as well as the background and origins of the holidays.

All of the major holidays are presented thoroughly and organized in a manner that allows the reader to reference material intuitively. I have other "Celebrate" books, but this one surpasses them all.
