Great perspective on how to lead
In education, we tend to look at a few people to make decisions for an entire school. Unfortunately, great ideas and perspectives are ignored unintentionally because of this structure. This book gives a fresh look into a distributed leadership approach. It is a paradigm shift from the "top-down" approach to a "bottom-up" approach. The multiplier effect paradigm allows informal leaders within an organization to contribute to critical decisions that impact an organization, and build organizational capacity by allow all members of the organization to have a voice. I do not want to hurt the integrity of this book by highlighting and describing the big ideas; just purchase this book if you want to build organizational capacity and a good climate for your team.

Highly relevant & a great read
As a former Special Ed teacher, I was wowed by this book and the potential impact it can have on improving the quality of education in our country (or anywhere, for that matter). I worked in a school system where "doing more with less" was the mantra of the day -- but where no one much cared about the contributions we as teachers could make outside our classroom world. "The Multiplier Effect" shows us why we shouldn't expect the principal or college president to have all the answers, and provides ways to tap the intelligence of everyone in the school system, from teacher to class aide. Even though it's geared toward educators, I also found it highly applicable to the business world which I've now joined. It's an easy read with interesting stories and practical tools I know I can use.

Distribute to Multiply and Amplify
Are you wondering how to better connect people and amplify each of their strengths? This book outlines strategies each of us can utilize in our daily lives as well as in our work space to promote our potential by promoting that of others. I have successfully used some of the exercises with my colleagues and with middle school students. A great book for teachers, coaches, and administrators!

I want to a Disraeli follower!
I want to NOT be an Accidental anything. You have empowered me to take three chips and write LISTEN, on my notepad, computer, lesson plans, agendas for leading my team, and to be able to focus on encouraging, asking, and playing/working nicely with others. I can hardly wait for school to start!A million thanks,Janet Emmons, EdDThe Woodlands High School6101 Research Forest DriveThe Woodlands, Texas 77381Lone Star [email protected]

Not as Good as the Original
I found the first multiplier book to be more practical and engaging than this one. Although there were numerous school-based examples, I generally found that the ones repeated from the first book (whether taken from school or industry) had more impact and were more on point. This could be due to the specific nature of my school (a free standing graduate institution as opposed to the interlocked elementary and secondary schools that were the main source of illustrations here). Finishing this book has prompted me to review the first one.

Taking a chance and developing the genius of others
As a long term middle manager I have seen many styles of management and their results. I liked everything about this book from its philosophical basis to its observed impact. If you are not concerned about your own ego and you are not worried about criticism from above or outside I'm sure this will work.
