Works really well but...
I really like this little unit! Gave it 5 stars. Just a couple minor things to aware of: 1- the unit has a nice study plastic body. Once in a while after you screw it together, you'll have to loosen and retighten the pump. sometimes it gets slightly misaligned and won't seal. I think it's simply a tolerance issue. This is plastic, not a machined part that goes on a aircraft. It's only happened a few times, Just unscrew the top and try it again. 2- Use HOT water! This process tends to cool the water a bit. It's still enjoyable, just start with it very hot and you'll be happy. I have used both pods and ground coffee. I have found that pods are favorable. less mess and better richness and flavor. I used Lavazza ground and in pods. Maybe it's just the coffee, not sure. Good luck!

It does make espresso
This little critter makes a pretty darned good espresso. Unfortunately just one shot at a time. Follow the instructions very carefully. And it is definitely not for the mechanically challenged.

This gadget works really well!
I am not an espresso connoisseur so I could not justify a dedicated machine costing hundreds of dollars. I decided to take chance on this. I am really pleased. It makes a good cup of espresso and it is pretty easy to control the size and length of the expression with a little practice. Surprisingly good crema too (depending on the grind and brand of espresso).Note that you can you this with Nespresso pics too but I have not tried those yet. It seems like a nice option if you are traveling or want to use this at work.Cleanup is pretty easy but there are several parts so expect this to take a few minutes.I mostly use the espresso to make lattes so if you are more discerning than I am, you may not be as pleased. But for the money, I think this is a pretty solid product a a great price.

Did not work ——at all
I had very high hopes for this item. Upon opening the package, the espresso maker looked cheaply made, and the plastic pump handle looked like it could easily break. The handle also makes a horrible squeaking noise which would wake-up anyone sleeping nearby while you try and make your morning coffee. This might all be ok, but the machine simply did not work at all. No water at all would pump through the machine. I followed all instructions, used different grinds, etc...., still nothing ....the directions give some trouble-shooting instructions, and then add that if no water continues to come from the machine, the machine is broken. Well, that seems to be the case here ——-DOA out of the box.

I was sent a defective product. //// The defective product has been replaced.
Bought this on Amazon, and tried it out today (8/1/20).I've contacted "Simpresso" today, and will modify this comment if they provide me satisfaction. As per right now, I cannot recommend this product, since, at least in my case, the product I was sent is defective beyond use.--------------------------------------------------------------I received a replacement Simpresso on 8/7/20. The coffee it makes is basically "OK," but far from great (as may be expected from a portable gadget). I regard it as a coffee maker for dire emergencies (electrical blackout) or backpacking. The Simpresso doesn't meet my overly high expectations, but I won't discard it either.Un-excellent features:It's difficult-to-impossible to hold the Simpresso in one hand while working the pump handle with the other. One hand interferes with the other. While both hands are busy pumping, the coffee is being espressed out to somewhere... The Simpresso is very difficult to aim while you're pumping. The device enables acceptable coffee in the wild, but it isn't really good as an everyday coffee maker. It is WAY better than "instant coffee" though.

Great STRONG espresso
Much better than the more expensive battey type. Lots of pumping but just repetitive not hard to pump. Make an unfortunate noise reminiscent of sqeaky bed springs. I get comments and jokes every time I use it at work. Great product.

Hot or cold? Yes
Cold. Pressed. Espressos. That's all you need to know. This manual espresso press can make a hot latte just as handily as a full-sized machine, but even better: it can press a cold crema.Just load your grounds, fill the water reservoir with ice cold water, and start pumping. Once you feel the pressure build up and see a little espresso dribbling, slowly continue pumping to keep the pressure on without too much espresso coming out. Keep this pressure for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, resume pumping at a rate of one pump per minute. The results will BLOW YOUR MIND!ALMOST everything about this espresso maker is nearly perfectly designed (I don't love the plastic, it feels like it's gonna break at some point); the biggest drawback I've found is that it tends to leak with nescafe pods. But for smooth iced lattes that'll make your barista jealous? WORTH IT!

Some learning curve
It needs some getting used to. At first I was a bit fed up that it is not easy to use and quite messy with the coffee ground and washing. After a few days of getting used to, I found the matching grind size so that the coffee grounds remain a solid piece after brewing and can be blown out of the smart capsule after brew. And subsequently, there is no back flow of coffee to the water chamber so it only took a quick rinse of the body instead of a full wash. The pump handle is large so it is easy to operate. I also like the large tank to make lungo directly.
