Useful book for users of the Arizona Trail (AZT)
This book is a compact and excellent source of information for those hiking, horseback riding, or biking the 800-mile Arizona Trail (AZT). Gives detailed information on each segment of the trail, including trail conditions, places of interest, botany, geology, water sources, and topography. Also provides information on access locations for each segment and nearby gateway communities. This information is also available on the Arizona Trail Association website, but the book provides the information in a more easily readable format. A must for anyone planning on using the trail, both day users and long-distance users.

Provides supplemental information on the Arizona Trail
I purchased this book as part of my pre AZT hike research. I have completed the first 25% of the book. The first 20% was flora, fauna and geology which I do find interesting but it is not the primary information desired by a long distance hiker. This volume is helpful but you can get most of the information you need especially related to changing conditions like water sources and trail angel contacts from websites and more importantly the Guthook app.

Arizona is wild and beautiful
I plan on trying to do some section hiking of this trail and this is a good place to get started. Guthook as well. It is heavy though, but I like it. Thanks to Matthew Nelson for taking the time and care in putting this together.

Good overview of the trail
I would have liked to see more about possible camp sites. I appreciated the passage by passage summary of the trail. gives a fair idea of what to expect. Together with the phone ap that does provide more information concerning water and camp sites the book is very useful for planning either a through hike or section hikes, even day hikes as clear directions for N and S access points are provided.

Good for preparing for your hike.
Useful details of the AZT, section by section. Much too heavy for your pack, but good for preparation. Maps are necessarily lacking in detail, but they give a general sense of terrain and important features. There is an important summary of water sources and trail resources. Generally is consistent with the information in online maps from Guthook and Avenza.

I am section hiking this trail right now
I love how the book is broken down by each passage. Makes it better for me to section hike the AZT.

Walking the Arizona Trail
This is an excellent book for those who have made the decision to do the entire trail or are just looking for a few day trails. This book provides directions to and from the trail heads as well as descriptors of the trails themselves. It is not as detailed as the original book, but we wore out the other one and had to have a replacement. I think, if you are doing the entire trail, this book is a must have. The price is also excellent.

NOT COMPLETE
Unfortunately, this book didn't give any coverage of the small part of the trail we walk - didn't seem to include it in the trail although this part of trail is clearly marked. All of book is well written and clear.
