Useful device if you need to swop drives
Very handy if you need to swop drive frequently. I have one drive with Windows and one with Ubuntu which I swop several times a week. (This is my second caddy) one thing to watch is that it’s been designed to take the older mechanical drives. If you use a modern slim SSD the pins and socket can be misaligned. I use a spacer I 3d printed (see photo). I believe you can buy them on the internet or there’s a stl file on Thingiverse. It’s not a problem if the caddy is mounted horizontally as gravity does the job, well in one orientation anyway. Brill little unit.

Seems almost perfect ... almost ...
Mmmm ... nice and heavy and built of metal this removable tray seems ideal for what I wanted it for - to hold the boot drive for a machine that will be used mainly for one purpose but occasionally swapped between tasks and other operating systems. It does definitely feel quite sturdy and up to the job but there are two little oddities...The first is that the release button for the drive tray is a button that you need to slide to unlock the tray but it doesn’t stick out very far so it’s quite difficult to unlatch when the rack is installed in a rear panel slot (OK so you could call that a feature so that you don’t accidentally unlatch it when you are blindly plugging in cables). The second is it comes with a protective self adhesive sheet that appears to be intended to be stuck to the underside of your hard disc drive to stop it shorting out on the metal backplate of the caddy - which is fine(ish) apart from the fact that there is only one of them and surely the point of this is to enable multiple drives to be inserted. SSDs obviously will be fine and I’m sure HDDs will be too but it would be better if the backplate had the protective sheet on it (or were non-conductive) rather than having to think about whether you need to use your one sticker on a given drive.Oh yes - and you can’t use it with 15mm thick 2.5” drives ... I didn’t need to do anyway so it wasn’t a problem for me but it might be for you.I haven’t tried 7mm drives in it yet to see if the thinner profile causes any issues with connectors not lining up...I do like it though.Phil

Brilliant solution for data archival
We have a requirement to be able to remove disks from PCs for permanent data archiving. This little gem does the trick. It fits perfectly, is simple to install and easy to use.I do need to find out how to get more of the 3M stickers which are used to protect the disk electronics from contacting the housing since we will be using more than 1 disk per computer

Ext sad drive card
Fitted into a spare slot in my desktop box, once connected up worked fine saw the drive and was able to use straightway. Was able to remove from cradle quite easily

Decent, but slightly fiddly
This does work well, but loses a point or two for needing to connect to a molex for power, an irritation with modern day PSUs.It's also worth noting that it's designed to grip onto an expansion slot at the bottom. If you're using it to fill a spare chassis expansion slot with no motherboard behind it, shoe horning it is can be a little tricky - but once it's in, it's fine.I use this with a Seagate 1TB Firecuda as a scratch drive, to test things before moving them onto my main disks.

Good for "off-site" backups!
I like to back up my PC but prefer to use an internal rather than external HDD. I have killed one external drive by knocking it when it was running. External backup drives have their own adapters and if they fail, then you often can't get the data off the HDD inside.I also like to keep my backups separate from our PC setup area. Most commercial organisations have offsite backup storage as part of their recovery procedure. This device meets home users needs as long as you have a PC with a spare full-height slot at the back. This won't fit half-height slots. The only other prerequisite is a safe place to put the HDD. If you can find a neighbour who you trust with your door keys when you go away, then this is the best solution!

ok when it is working
i used it on my custom built desktop computer for hotswapping hardrives and worked great for half a year. now it sometimes works ok while most of the time will not let my pc boot to the OS.This could also not be the products fault as the PC is custom built and some other part may cause the error. any how, i was satisfied as long as it worked propperly.
