Chee-Kee: A Panda in Bearland Hardcover – Picture Book, 30 Mar. 2017

The subject matter of this children's book could not be more relevant today. Immigration and the process of becoming assimilated to a new land from the perspective of a panda family to a land of bears is a wonderful way to teach children about not only being open and accepting of others, but that it is so important to remember who you are and what makes you unique.I love that it is based on the experience of Sujean Rim's parents immigrating to the US. As a daughter of immigrants and a first-generation American like Rim, I empathized with so many of the experiences that Chee-Kee had in his new land. All in all, a really lovely story, and so beautifully illustrated. Would not expect anything less from the very talented Sujean Rim!
