Very nice learning tool
This is a wonderful learning material. I am happy that a bought it. Steve is just great in explaining playing the blues. Though I find this is suitable for medium, or advanced guitar players, I am learning a lot. The material contains DVD lessons, and for each there is an exercise section... just wonderful...

Great-ish
Just got it, and the first example that is shown, the example is on screen, and he plays a fancier set of cords!and doesnt show what he did.I honestly can post how much I hate this type of stuff.but it looks like a great program despite the teacher, boy I hate his face already.....

Great Product
I had been out of the guitar playing days since I was 20 yrs old. I had been a working musician, but as a bass guitarist for 35 yrs, but hadn't touched a 6 string guitar. I recently decided to take up playing again and I love blues, especially the classic blues. I bought this teaching method and found that Steve Krenz just has a smooth, easy method of teaching. No rush, no playing a riff and then on to something else. He goes into the details and shows you. In addition, every lesson or session as he calls it, there's a workshop in which your homework is to learn what that session taught before moving on to the next session. If you're into guitar and blues, and you want to learn it from top to bottom, then this is for you.

Great course if you love the blues!
I also have the Learn and Master series of Steve's for both the complete course, and the fingerstyle course. I love them all. I also must emphasize that this course is NOT for beginners. If you have a good working knowledge of the guitar and can play it, and you know some basic music theory you will do fine with it. If not, work through the basic course until you are proficient. I have purchased all three courses and I am working through them all. I will not run out of new things to learn for a long time. Highly recommended.

A review from someone taking the other L&M guitar course.WITH **SEVERAL**UPDATES!
I bought this set thinking that it would enhance and add variety to my already rigorous guitar practicing of the very very EXCELLENT "Learn and Master Guitar" course. I have tons of praise for that course and the instructor, Steve Krenz, who also teaches this course. It teaches you in a logical, methodical way so you so can really grasp what you're learning as you progress. Right now I am on Lesson 8, barre chords on the 5th string which is really frustrating so I needed a break and put this in. Well! This course is almost ENTIRELY different than the regular L&M course, in that he just jumps right in to things and kinda leaves you to figure some things out on your own time. There's no hand holding in this course, which there is gently in the regular course to lead you into the waters of playing guitar. I even went to the next lesson to see if maybe I was just being grouchy, but it was the same. That being said, if you already have a pretty good grasp of guitar and all the chord forms and are able to find and execute chords, notes and barres pretty rapidly, I would think this dvd set is great. Great production value, excellent online resources, and a great instructor. However, if you're like me, a "beginner," then this may be a little too fast paced and frustrating.I'm thinking after a few more L&M lessons, I should be ready for this set.*****UPDATE:Oct.2014:Well, I've progressed to the "Blues" lesson on the Original L&M Course so I thought I'd give this another shot. I found it really irritating and frustrating. The concepts in Lesson 1 are basic, simple concepts. The I,IV,V chords, and then it's off to going into soloing using notes from chords and then into a Call and Response section. This would be fine if there was on screen TAB and or it was CLEAR on the screen what notes exactly he is playing. I would say if you're thinking about buying this as a stand alone to learn the blues, I would not recommend it unless you already have a really through understanding of music theory, know all 5 pentatonic scale forms, and already have a pretty good understanding of guitar and the fretboard. I wouldn't really recommend this for an absolute beginner, which is sad because the regular L&M guitar course is amazing. I would say if you're a beginner, go with the regular L&M course, as it offers FAR better instruction and covers a wide variety of genres, including blues! :-)***UPDATE:Nov.2014*** I skipped ahead and watched disc two and disc three. I'm so frustrated with this set!! It seems so jumbled and misguided. Its hard to follow. I'm not sure exactly who this set is aimed at. I'm a fairly advanced beginner, and the concepts in the dvd to me are all over the place with skill levels. Steve will display a complex chord progression or advanced figering and demonstrate at a fast pace, then in the next scene it will be a lesson about "This is the key of A on the sixth string." Then he'll slowly walk you thru the names of the notes on the sixth string. I'm thinking if someone could easily play the previous example, surely they would already know the names of the notes on the sixth string! I just am not getting as much out of this as I was hoping, considering the COLOSSAL help I gained with the original L&M course. Maybe the fact that it's titled "Learn and Master Blues" is what's bothering me. I'm not really learning or mastering. Not worth $90****UPDATE: DEC.2014***** Well, I've been doing a ton of music studying and decided to give this set another shot. I rewatched discs one thru three, lessons and workshops. Now that I have a better understanding of music theory, the course is a little more accessable. There are still some things I just don't understand why Steve is presenting and I'm not getting the logic behind them, such as "while you're doing an E7 chord, your pinky is free to hit these other notes." I understand the concept, but not the logic. I wouldn't know how to apply this example. And watching it again, disc one where he's demonstrating the basics, he DOES do some convoluted example with a hammer on and some other flair added in. This totally confused me the first several times I've watched it, as he just says "this is an E7" and then does this weird example and never really explains it. I'm going to leave my rating at 3 stars, as you CAN learn some things, but it's definitely not up to par with the original L&M course.***********OCT 2015*************I know a LOT more now than I did before so I decided to give this another shot, starting with Disc 3. Well, disc three actually turned out to be fine and I learned some things. BUT, this is after two years of constant studying and playing. I still have no idea who exactly this set is aimed at. So after the sucess of disc three I put on disc 4. Disc 4 is an absolute Sh**t show! I have no idea what is going on or the thought process involved in this. It is SO disjointed and unorginized. It's as if it was made on a weekend and rushed out after the sucess of the regular L&M course. I'd advise skipping this set. Lowered one star to two stars total, as lessons are jumbled, follow no real recognizeable plan, and just irritating in their sloppiness.Random Fun Fact: The Nashville session muscian drummer Steve uses in this video is now the drummer for Lady Antebellum.

Not for beginners, you need some theory basics to fully benefit
I took one star off for not including a physical copy of the written materials. Those materials are provided as a PDF you can print yourself, and I'd recommend taking them to a kinkos and having it spiral bound. This course is not for beginners. If you don't understand things like triads, major scale intervals, all 12 keys, order of sharps and flats, harmonizing the major scale, and other such basics, I'd recommend you take the full Learn and Master Guitar Course first. That will make this course easier for you. With that said, you can learn a great deal about blues from this course. Use of the right scales, use of teh right chords, and use of the right techniques used in blues music. But you may grapple to keep up with some of this if you skip around or if you are a beginner, or think you are intermediate but don't fully understand the topics I mentioned above.

Great!
The learn & Master series is the best for subjective learners. Steve Krenz is a great instructor and very passionate about his job.

Aufwendig produziert, wenig durchdachtes Prinzip

Too Good...
Highly Recommended for any aspiring blues guitar player...if you are an intermediate and learning to play on your own you will save hell loads of time and get to know the basic structure of blues progressions, scales, turnarounds all that stuff

Buena metodología. Progresividad en el aprendizaje.
Curso bastante comprimido pero bien estructurado. Imprescindible un cierto conocimiento del ingles, pues no tiene otras posibilidades idiomáticas ni subtítulos.

Good teaching
I like the way of teaching. Steve Krenz explained how to play the blues very well.
