Purchased for a costume, and is perfect. This is not an actual "wear normally" type hat, but for the money, for a costume is perfect. Basically felted cardboard!

I should have realized it by reading, but in case no one else does: This hat is basically just a piece of shaped cardboard. Purely for looks and a one off costume really. Price isn't bad considering.

This was inexpensive and exactly what we needed for a costume for school. we ordered last minute and it came the night before, perfect. he is already planning his halloween costume to include the hat!

This hat is pure costume (meaning hard, weird felt) and not acceptable as an everyday hat if you were thinking about adopting a “casual everyday private investigator” vibe.

Bought this product as a gift for my 12 year old great nephew and absolutely adored it. He wears it everywhere.

I bought it for my son, and it really worth it. The quality goes with the price.

So I'm overall happy with it... I do wish it was at least 1 1/2" wider or at least to have the option to have a larger size. the material is strong board that is covered in a soft really short felt like or faux suede materal. So from at least 3 feel it looks quite authentic. Do not get it wet or let any oil get to it!!!! it will stain with oil and it is dam near impossible to get out because it is made of strong paper board! it will be wrecked with any cleaning solutions!For my purposes of character props, it is a good fit for the ensemble!
