Finding Your Voice Through Creativity: The Art and Journaling Workbook for Disordered Eating

Finally the thing that helps with emotional eating
This is a beautifully made art work book that accompanies you on your path to get rid of emotional eating. One page contains a task to do some art work, the next one asks you to journal about what you have created. And all of a sudden things that seemed not clear are like an open book to you. Suddenly you understand what you need to change to be happier. You get to know yourself better, what your strong and your week points are. How what you thought were your strong points may not be that at all and the other way round. And you realize that you are actually a wonderful person, no matter what other people have been telling you for years. And at the very least, while you are busy doing the exercises you will not go to empty your fridge. And what is more, I found out that after i completed an exercise I was less hungry than I was before. I great workbook. Highly recommendable if emotional eating is your problem.

While I go through this workbook only sporadically, I always come away feeling accomplished and more understanding of myself after completing an "assignment." Some of them have been great topic starters for therapy sessions - giving myself and my therapist another lens through which to view and approach my individual needs. I enjoy being able to share my inner creativity in this way; it can be used as a therapeutic tool, not just a fancy private journal. Even if art isn't your thing, give it a try!

Excellent!
This book has been very helpful in my recovery. Each creative art page is followed up with a journal page that asks thought provoking questions that encourage me to look at my art work from a therapuetic viewpoint. The structure of the book is set up in such a way that it is really easy to do this book on my own, and also to discuss it in individual or group therapy.I have always enjoyed drawing and painting but have never been consistent in my journaling. This book does a wonderful job of helping me do both. I highly recommend it!

Some good activities
I've used a few of these activities in my IOP group for adolescent females with eating disorders. Some have been more successful than others. It has a mix of art and writing activities and has definitely provided a good jumping-off point for me to develop some art therapy techniques for our teens.

I love this book
I love this book.... It is full of great ideas. What keeps me from giving it 5 stars is....it is a workbook but I wish it was in a spiral or 3 hole punch form, so you can use more artistic supplies in case it gets "bulky."

Light at the end of the Tunnel
Great book for finding your true self through creative ways. I lost myself and am a creative person. This book has helped me a ton with locating myself. This book is showing me the path through the dark woods. Great book and a must buy!

I've only just started this but it has got me to think about my eating patterns in a different way already which has had a noticeable effect on my eating. The exercises are varied which I enjoy and it helps to complement other measures I'm taking to address my eating disorder. I'm hoping that it will lead to a lasting change in my behaviour.
