Lisle 63500 Big Range Filter Wrench

This Was The Only Tool That Would Remove My Big Blue Water Filter
I burned through 3 plastic wrenches trying to remove my Big Blue water filter housing. It seems I barely tightened it 18 months ago when I replace the filter element and o-ring (lubed with food grade silicone). This beast was not coming apart with those cheap, thin plastic wrenches. Two wrenches gave up their "teeth", even with them doubled up - turning two wrenches together at the same time. The first wrench just twisted and snapped! This strap wrench got the job done in about 10 seconds - used a ratchet with a 16 inch "cheater bar" and old Big Blue finally surrendered. The alternative was to call the pump company and choke down a $100 service call, making this an awesome buy. I don't think this would actually have room to fit on any of my machinery oil filters, but using it just for the filter housing one time paid for itself. Very well built!

easily change stuck home water filter
1st time ever I can change whole house water filter!!! Best Buy this year I struggle being a petite female that one chore I am unable to handle in our home is changing the whole house water filter (aquapur)- despite using large mount of food grade silicone, changing the whole unit recently. I've had men break the plastic, we've doubled them, used channel lock pliers with limited success...but not without scratching canister. I saw a YouTube video with a man effortlessly opening filter housing & ordered right away. Don't forget the ratchet handle with extended bar, got mine for $10 at HD & done! What a relief to not have to call a Plummer & spend $$$. There is youtube video or search "how to easily remove a stuck water filter housing remove big blue filter sump" by M. Jenkins- the guy is a lifesaving genius!! I'm unable to include link but you'll find it easily enough

Big blue filter conquered
Absolutely would recommend this. I have a big blue 10 inch house filter and two smaller RO water filters that I absolutely could not get unstuck. I tried everything else that I could think of to twist these things loose. I legitimately thought I was going to rip my pipes off the wall instead of the filter, until I found this. Get a 1/2 inch ratchet breaker bar, wrap this around the filter nice and tight, and just apply some steady pressure. It was a breeze. Don't waste your time with anything else. Just get this and end the frustration.

This Tool is Tight!
The yoke is well constructed and chrome plated for rust protection and easy cleaning. It also weighs considerably more than expected! The adaptor-wrench connection is very snug to loose fit, depending on your tool brand. I find it loose with my Craftsman and tighter fit with MAC wrench. So far I’ve only used it on water softener canisters and water filters. I was amazed it even worked on as small as the Benelli M4 extension receiver tube. To give you an idea the tube diameter is 19mm or just over 1/2 inch!

A must for your toolbox or work bench.
I had a house water filter that would not budge and come off. It's quite common as it turns out due to the pressure that is put though though the water system kind of seals the filter on. I tried everything to get it off. Even had my 20 something nephew try and he actually broke the wrench that comes with the filter trying to get it off. I went online and found a video of a guy trying to get his water filter off and he had a number of different suggestion. Near the end of the video he says if all else fails, get one of these strap filter wrenches. I bought the exact same one as in the video, it was like magic. I wished I made a video of all the effort and pain that went into the attempts without the Lisle strap filter wrench, and how easy the project was with it. I'm sure it would have helped. My suggestion is if your a handy man around the house, buy one sooner or later you will need it. If you have a stuck filter, order one . Now I will admit, I actually didn't use your standard wrench with this. I had a 2 1/2 foot breaker bar (which I use on stuck Auto bolts) to give me more leverage and it has the same male adapter as a ratchet wrench, which fit the strap wrench. My filter was seriously stuck. Before using this strap wrench, I thought I was going to have to cut the filter out. I was so pleased and satisfied I would have given it more than 5 stars.

Well made and works
I had a whole house water filer I cold not remove. I broke the plastic wrench it came with. My small cheep strap wrench failed. I broke a "heave duty" strap wrench with a metal handle and still the filter did not budge. This little baby however did the trick. A half inch ratchet, a short extension and a length of pipe and success!

Did the job
Well made, good materials, arrived as promised. After breaking the plastic wrench for my whole-house sediment filter, this enabled me to remove the stuck filter casing. I've been doing this for many years using the same old plastic wrench. Then made the mistake of forgetting to replace the filter for over a year. (My bad!) I think the filter expanded so much inside the casing that it "locked" the thing on. I tried everything I could think of -- but this did the trick! I found it with a YouTube search.

Great tool!!!!
Had one of these for 25 years and misplaced it. Could not remove the oil filter because one of the quick lube places had severely over-tightened it when all you really need is to firmly hand tighten a filter. I bought multiple tools that failed including those socket style tools that just slipped and the wrenches that don’t fit in a recessed configuration like mine. This tool removed my filter in about 30 seconds after nearly crushing it but it did come off. I’d like to get my hands on the last guy that tightened it!

Strong and well made
Used to remove two water filter sumps which were stuck tight. Worked perfectly, and had to endure a lot of force.

LOVE this!
Oh, man! Am I ever glad I bought this thing! I was having trouble unscrewing one of my filter casings on my home water system, and I tried using a couple of wrenches as well as heating up the top with my blow dryer, both of which have worked for me in the past. But this time... nada! I ordered this strap wrench along with a 24" breaker bar to use with it. (The 24" might have been overkill... It was a little unwieldy.) Lisle's video is a little difficult to see because the guy's hand is in the way much of the time, but it was enough to see what to do. That filter casing unscrewed immediately! I am a 5'1" female, and often have difficulty with tasks requiring strength, but this wrench made taking that filter out a breeze. Highly recommend!

Works well, half the price of Snap On
Im a Diesel tech, sometimes you need some extra grip on things that are bigger than your hands. Air dryer filters, exhaust stacks and large oil and fuel filters. Its worked on everything ive needed it for so far. Only con, should also have option for 3/8 drive.

Works for large water filters too!
This strap wrench is exactly what I needed to change my large water filter. The flimsy plastic water filter wrench you are supposed to use collapsed under stress.Get one of these wrenches and never have a problem again..
