Hubby Loves It
Got this for my husband. He's just happy to be able to slice cheese as thin as he can. He has no complaints (just wish it had a different color).

I get a lot of block cheese so go through a lot of these
I wish they could make these where the wire does not stretch and break so easily. They work fine the first time or two, maybe three but then the wire gets loose and does not cut even and then easily breaks. Cost a lot to work so few times

Average. Wish I Read The Reviews.
To be fair, this is an OKAY slicer.Somehow this week I broke two plastic slicers of this style. The wire broke on one and the actual plastic of the other. This metal one with the replacement wire(S!) seemed like it would cover those issues. It seemed premium for the other cheese slicers in the $7-10 range, but I wish I read the other reviews. The description says it comes with TWO REPLACEMENT WIRES. The truth is, it comes with ONE installed and ONE replacement; TWO TOTAL."Replacement" in my mind never include the one used to make the product functional.I can say that the wire appears to be of good firmness and quality and the one replacement is better than none. You can always tighten or adjust it with a Phillips (cross-head) OR flat-head screwdriver. The stainless steel seems firm but it is like a hollow, one-sided casting so it isn't the most secure to hold. It will get the job done, but I expected both sides to be similar. The slice size adjustment thumbscrew was easy enough to turn by hand for loosening and tightening, but may also be turned with a Phillips screwdriver. The roller seemed secure enough for multiple slices, but you can probably be more certain by not putting too much pressure against the adjustable roller and letting the wire do the work.I have not cleaned this in the dishwasher, but I feel I will do better to hand wash and dry; especially with the uneven underside. In summary: I'm not worried about this breaking. I like the extra wire, should I need it, and I think this will get you slightly thinner slices than other slicers of its kind.

Works as advertised
Works, don't see it lasting very long, but most don't on a block of cheddar cheese!UPDATE 01/05/2023Using it 2-3 times a week slicing blocks of Tillamook cheese, seems to work just fine still !!

A cheesy cheese slicer, you get what you pay for. Spend more.
Whoever coined the phrase "cut the cheese" never had a cheese slicer in mind, probably because real cheese isn't sliced after consumer packaging with anything except a knife. A soft cheese like Brie is too sticky and a hard cheese is, well, too hard. This slicer isn't totally useless. It is up to the challenge of slicing "cheese food", Velveeta, american cheese or mozzarella that isn't too fresh, although it tends to tear off crumbs at the end of each slice.. It copes with packaged US Colby, and with cheddar, does less well as sharpness increases. Slicing packaged Swiss 2/3 of the roller width is a struggle. The plastic roller has slop around its axle that make s it hard to adjust and harder to produce even slices.I don't mind that the handle is hollow, or that its bright finish will tarnish if cleaned in a dishwasher. My 30 year old one was evenly tarnished and useable until the original wire finally snapped.I DID mind that the slicer whose wire is already stretching did NOT have TWO replacement wires. Counting the one that's a required component of the original whole as a spare, is like saying a car comes with 4 or 5 spare tires. My suggestion to anyone who has an old roller slicer that needs a replacement wire is to use a stainless high-E string for an electric guitar. One of those can be cut into many replacement slicing wires and each will last longer than the one of this FRFR 5024 slicer.

Wire stretches with pressure.
Had sliced mozzarella a couple of times and went to slice some sharp cheddar and the wire stretched pretty severely. Thankfully the screws on the side come out and the wire can be wrapped tighter again if you're handy with a pair of pliers and a screwdriver!

cuts wide chunks of cheese
For the price this adjustable cheese slicer is a very good choice. I use it to cut large chubs of non dairy cheese (3" square). The only complaint I have is it doesn't cut this cheese clean when breaking through. I use a small amount of olive oil to lubricate the cutter and it helps breaking through cleanly. I don't know how it works on dairy cheese but I do recommend this slicer.Update: It's March 8, 2023 and the white plastic roller broke on the ends. It lasted 10 months. I feel that putting it in the dishwasher compromised the plastic and it broke down. If I was to buy another one I would avoid the dishwasher. My opinion only.

Works well
Has a spare wire, slices evenly and easily

Lightweight and slices well.
My mom has had one of these for as long as I can remember and I always wanted one. Although I wish this was one solid piece, it still does what I need it to do. I was happy to see that it came with 2 replacement strings. Only negative is that because it’s a moulded tool and no fully solid, it’s not not very comfortable to hold. For the price, I would still recommend it as it slices well and does what it needs to do. .

Far cheaper than expected, returning immediately
Immediately upon opening the package on this I realized the mistake I had made. The "Stainless Steel" the item refers to is just a thin coating on top of a poorly cast alloy of some kind, that feels so cheap it would likely snap in half at some point if dropped even from a short distance. The unit is hollow on the rear and overall feels like crap. The bigger issue is the wire itself. There's simply no way to pull it tight, even after the arduous task of loosening the screws and trying in vain to pull the wire tight while tightening the screws simultaneously. On top of this, the "thickness" adjustment doesn't stay straight, doesn't go nearly thin enough (about an 1/8" thinnest) and the barrel is made of the cheapest plastic imaginable.Overall this is a terrible purchase, and I would avoid it at all costs. I did not even bother to try cutting cheese with it as it surely would have just increased my frustration, if not just bursting into flames.

Better Than Expected!
This slicer is very sturdy and easy to adjust the thickness of the slice.
