Shining Path
Bought this as my previous headlight (LED Lenser) packed in. I had it a good while and one of the connections became loose. This is a decent headlight - not overly powerful but definitely bright enough in the first stage to use at night when out with the dog or doing work round the garden in the darkness.A bit of an irritant is the four modes if you only need one but they ARE useful for other hobbies etc.First beam - the brightest and most power consuming. Use only if needed. Constant beam - prob around 300L. Don't shine in peoples faces.Second beam - about a quarter of the luminescence. You can still use to see things around you or if you want to illuminate something about a foot away from your face.Third beam. Red constant glow. Maybe used for walking or cycling. No real use for anything else.Fourth beam. Flashing first beam. Probably only used for cycling but wouldn't use it if you suffer from photosensitive epilepsy. Might be good at a rave or wild party.Good strap. Easy to open and close. Get rechargeable batteries and a charger if you use one of these a lot.Moveable head up and down. Decent strap.Excellent value for money. LED Lensers are about £35. To me there's not a whole lot of difference as yet. Time will tell as to how long it lasts but about 3 months down the line so far so good. If it lasts 3 years then I will have got my moneys worth. I wouldn't expect any more than a year out of it for the price.

Top quality headtorch
I had not heard of this make before but based on the specification and the price decided to take a punt and am very pleased I did! This was half the price of my old headtorch and so much easier to use. Really comfortable to wear for long periods of time too unlike others I have had in the past. Fantastic value for money - would definitely recommend.

Really bright, good build
The main light is really bright, also the fact that it has 2 intensities makes it quite versatile for products in this price range. The strap is ok, but would really recommend using it on top of a hat / cap.I bought 2, unfortunately one of them didn't work, the battery connection seems to be a bit flimsy.Overall I would recommend this, as it's definitely on top of other products in the price range.

I got light on it!!
Great head torch, which I bought at the same time as I bought the expensive leading brand. But at a better price. This easily competes, and in some ways is better, no complicated double, triple pressing to go through masses of light options to try to see things in the middle of the night on the inca trail!!

Worthwhile unit for a reasonable price.
I bought this as a dual purpose lamp.Basics: The lamp comes with three AAA batteries (take the plastic off them!) so it is ready to use out of the box. The strap adjustment is easy to do and the strap is wide enough to be very comfortable on wearing.Actual usage: The first part was to use on night walks. I have to say that the ergonomics mean this lamp fits snugly on your head, without digging in and leaving marks or giving you a headache. On a 3.5 hour walk I found I only had to adjust it once. Overall, the comfort level is very good and I am one of those people who doesn't like anything too tight around my head.In terms of brightness, the first setting is probably a bit too much. The second setting is much better, and provides a decent arc of light at a level which was enough to see all obstacles in my way. I can see how the brighter setting could be useful, but if you are in a group, then you tend to blind people as you turn to speak to them. That can get very irritating very quickly. With the second brightness level, it is much more acceptable. The light didn't flicker or give out at any point during the hike, and coped with a brief shower of rain with no problems. The lamp itself swivels on the vertical plane, so you can adjust the beam to being from your feet, to about 20 feet in front of you (on the second brightest setting this is about the range of the lamp - the brightest setting will give you around 40-50 feet). The second use was for my telescope. Using a telescope means getting rid of as much ambient light as possible, as some targets are very faint and need your eyes to become accustomed to darkness. Having a bright white light will therefore not help. I had read previous reviews and liked the remarks being made about the red LEDs on this model. I have to say, the red definitely is a big help. It's just bright enough to allow you to make adjustments and change lenses etc, but not so bright that you need to readjust your eyes after use.Pros: Comfortable, lightweight, and appears to be very well made. Simple four button cycle of lights.Cons: If you are using the red LED setting, then you cannot just switch this on and off. You have to cycle through a 4th setting, which is all lights flashing, then through the two white light settings and this is very distracting, especially when using it for astronomy. Annoying as it is, it isn't a deal breaker.Overall this is a very good unit for the cost, and should cover most people's expected usage.

Puts some premium brands to shame
Excellent compact headlight.Combines a wide angle wash with a bulldog spot making it an excellent choice for walking, cycling or work. The red light is very useful where you want to maintain your night vision while highlighting close obstructions. The lamp itself does not feel heavy to wear and the angle adjustment notches are positive without being too stiff. At work I generally use it in the lower brightness setting which is quite adequate for working as an electrician and the batteries last several days of constant use.My only criticism is that I would prefer it to come on the lowest power setting first rather than the highest, but it is possible to hold the palm of your had over the lamp while cycling through the functions to save dazzling yourself. It would also be useful if there was a Safety Switch to prevent accidental activation when in a pocket. That aside, excellent.
