Cake Decorating for Dummies

I have always wanted to learn how to decorate cakes, this book is excellent.

I found this book very informative and good; the only thing I have to say about it is that some of the advices about products to buy are not that "must have" as it says, but if you can get'em, do it. Also, I think it opened my mind to new ideas, so I'll work on designs of my own instead of another books that are step-by-step guides.If you are just beginning or intermediate, this is a very good choice to know the ABC of baking and decorating; I dunno if you're more pro if it's that good for you too.I complement the reading with some videos I can watch on the web, and I think I'm making a good job.

I had never decorated a cake in my life, but my kids are getting to the age where we would need lots of birthday cakes. This book explains everything! I made my first cake last week and it came out great. The directions are simple and it is written in an easy to understand fashion. I think even if you know a thing or two, this book could help with tips and ideas you wouldn't have even thought of. A must-have for anyone who wants to decorate cakes!

I liked this book and the Dummies series so when I found this..I had to get it. Well, disappointment soon followed. It's not written badly, but I guess I have more experience with cakes then most- although not professional. The book is good if you are starting out, but I was expecting to learn some tricks, techniques and I don't feel I got anything more then what I already knew/learned. Not a bad read, but not so much of a tutorial either.

Wonderful, insightful, encouraging and extremely informative. And as the title suggests, very easy to understand.Not to mention the AWESOME recipes included.I've never decorated a cake before but have wanted to for some time. I'm thankful that this was the first book I bought. It's broken everything down and is very encouraging for those newbies like me. My first cake was absolutely gorgeous, though slightly lopsided, and wonderfully tasty.Thank you Joe LoCicero!

I thought that this would have more ideas in it and other things to help me with decorating the cakes that I make but it didn't really. I am giving it a 4 star though because I think it is a good book to learning how to decorate a cake I have been doing it for a few years so a lot of the stuff in it I already knew I was thinking it would have had more in it but I still think for someone starting out it would be a good book.

I have done cake decorating for many years and have now decided to do it as a side business. This book has really helped me with a lot of things I thought I knew, but actually didn't. I ordered several other books but they still look new, this you can tell has been used. Great cake recipes and ideas about starting a business.

Love this book, has some very easy and tasty recipes. This book really breaks down the whole cake decorating process for those of us that are just starting out. You can take these skills and use them with lots of different cake projects.

Got this book for a course my wife is doing and she really makes the most it it in all that she does

Just what my daughter needed everything about cakes in one book !

It has detail but with out any pictorial instruction i found it a tad bit boring , it just went on and on ... :) could with a bit of pictures to explain how things are done for us dummies

I thought this book would be full of pictures to follow, along with the text. But there are very few pictures, so it doesn't really inspire me to use it, because if you can see how the finished product should look, it makes it so much easier to follow. There are no instructions for making fondant models, which I expected. I am really disappointed
