Worked perfectly

I snapped a chain 20 miles from my truck while trying to go through mud and I was sure glad I had these. I anticipated a decent amount of work (I'm mostly used to motorcylce chains with the retaining clip on one side), so I got the bike to some solid ground, pulled out my chain break and some other tools, and prepared to work for at least a few minutes. Turns out that was unneccessary, it took about 30 seconds to pull out the old link, put this one on, and snap it together. I've put at least 100 miles on it since then with no issues. One tip is to use the pedals to fully seat the clip, just make sure the clip is on the top, hold the brakes, and slowly apply pressure to the pedal.

It’s a genuine SRAM part. They work, with no problems. My only wish is that they were more than single use. Every time you remove it, SRAM recommends that you replace it with a new one. Something about the chamfered slot doesn’t lock the pins anymore, and the potential increases for it to come apart. I don’t want to be in the mountains, miles from my car and have the connector break. I keep an extra in my saddle bag as extra insurance.

Stuck on the side of the road with a busted chain? These are life savers! While you still need a chain tool to get the broken link out, this will get you rolling again, and help retain your chain length.
