Essential part of any first aid kit.
This is a very inclusive but concise first aid book in a convenient portable size. It is written in such a way that a novice like me can easily follow it's directions. The pages are printed on a thick and durable paper stock that should stand up to many years of use. After studying some of the first aid topics that it addresses I don't know how we went so long without a basic health protection like this in our home. It should be a part of every basic first aid kit. I can easily see where this little book could save a life. I highly recommend it to any one who thinks they might find themselves needing to render first aid to an injured individual, especially a beloved family member. This is the best first aid money I have ever spent.

Great Booklet! Put This In Your First Aid Kit.
This is an important, concise, and easily accessible reference which has a place in a well rounded first aid kit. I’m not a doctor or a paramedic, but I am Red Cross AED/CPR/First Aid Certified. This book contains a distilled, clear, pocket sized reference of what I learned, and was tested on, while being certified for the former. That said, don’t expect every single detail ever written about first aid in a field manual type book of this size, but do expect enough quality information to get the job done when the occasion warrants. Every sort of medical situation seems covered, from stuff that just happens sometimes like splinters and small cuts, to things that we hope don’t ever happen, such as heart attacks or emergency child deliveries. There won’t be glossy photographs of people looking unhappy about having various ailments as you might find in larger books with glossy paper, but when an illustration is necessary (e.g. to show the proper head/neck angle for mouth to mouth breathing) then such illustrations or diagrams are provided. Font size is fairly small; if I had to guess glyph (i.e. letter) height is about 3 mm. Still, the book is quite legible to my middle age eyes without magnification as the lines are, mercifully, double spaced. You may want a small head lamp on hand if you think you might be reading in low light conditions. Size of the entire book is also handily small; easily placed in a first aid bag if you’ve got a semi-serious sized kit. The cover is matte laminated flexible paperboard, and the leaf paper inside is bleached white and just a hair better than your standard paperback novel fare. Pages will not repel water if they get wet. I suggest placing this book in a plastic sandwich bag for a little protection, and, if you’re so inclined, applying a clear protective plastic contact paper jacket on the cover wouldn’t hurt anything either.

Good info and easy to use
I leave this in my truck. Things seem to happen on trails and such but the truck seems to always be around. I also keep a camel pack loaded with first aid stuff so you can just grab and run.

More than I need to know.
This is a VERY comprehensive book - a bit more than I think I need. It’s 304 pages long - but well indexed. Even so, this is a bit large for a pocket book. It contains first aid advice for items I’d probably never come across - meningitis, and emergency childbirth, for example. There’s also a bit more discussion of the conditions for which first-aid response is being offered than I'd like. I wish they could edit it to bring it down to about 200- 250 pages. And I do wish they could have used color photos of illustrations (I know - more $$).What it does have - for many possible problems - is very good advice on how to treat the problem. It’s going in my automobile first aid kit - with the hope that I never have to get involved with emergency childbirth.
