50P-RR Road Runner Premium Ice Melter, 50-Pound

We bought the Road Runner Premium Ice Melter because we couldn't find any locally, and we had some seriously treacherous black ice on our driveway. It was really difficult to get up the driveway safely—but this product did the trick!It started working quickly, melting through the ice and making it much safer to walk and drive on. The granules spread easily, and the 50-pound bucket gave us plenty to last through the winter. My husband was able to open the bucket without too much effort.If you're dealing with icy conditions, this is a must-have. It works great, comes in a sturdy container, and gives you peace of mind when dealing with winter weather. Highly recommend!

Needing more for my asphalt driveway,this stuff works very well

I've actually gone through the bucked much quicker than I expected but it does everything you could ask reasonably. (You could ask for a 500 square foot drive to do it with a cubic inch of ice melter but that wouldn't exactly be fair!)Ice, snow, and sub 20 degree temperatures and the ice and snow disappeared. Now, with 3"+ of snow, shovel, then salt. No matter the amount of ice melter down, 3" of snow will build up, but the little bit left on the bottom was effected by the leftover melter.Great product and recommended. Price isn't what you would pay for 50 lbs at your local hardware store, but the bucket seals well and the markup isn't extravagant, at least when I bought it.

As many other have stated, the top on the bucket seems welded on, but that is by design. Moisture will cause the product to clump and begin to liquefy if subjected wet, damp, winter weather.To remove the top is a challenge that rivals my upper body workouts at the gym. Zip off the the seal which was easy. BTW, wear gloves during all of this. Real gloves, not nitrile 'hospital' gloves.I took a long handle flat screwdriver and a rubber mallet to start the process and whacked the screwdriver under the lip of the top, lifted the screwdriver and started breaking the seal all around the top. Then a pair of pruning shears to make extra cuts on the top's rim. A pair of channel locks were handy but taking a piece of scrap wood and the mallet I hit the block upward all around to break the seal.I have stored my opened vault in the furnace room with the top lightly tapped on. After removing the top I was too dang tired to use the ice melt; but got to it about a 1/2 hour later. BTW, I'm 73.

Be smarter than the bucket folks. Worked well and showed up early. No complaints.

Good value. Unlike other reviewers, I had no trouble opening the lid. Easy to spread. Lid locks back down.

I had to use some of the Road Runner Premium during our last snow storm. I put it down as the flurries began to fall on my driveway and walking areas. As soon as the snow hit those treated areas the snow evaporated/melted. Consequently, when I came out the next day to heat my car up there was no snow on my driveway or walking surfaces! Great stuff!

Works as intended. Didn't have any issues from this product
