Gurin High Accuracy Digital Bathroom Scale with 4.3" Display and Step-On Technology

I bought this scale to replace my Weight Watcher WW78N scale. I originally bought the Weight Watcher scale because it displayed weight down to .1 pounds while most scales, including this Gurin scale display in .2 increments. I weigh myself each morning when I wake up and what I found with the Weight Watcher scale was that it has a memory in it and would display the same weight 3 - 4 days in a row before it would change. I knew this was not possible that my weight didn't fluctuate from day to day based on eating, exercise, activity levels that vary each day. This Gurin scale shows subtle changes in weight all of the time. It is also spot on when I weigh myself at home and then weigh shortly afterwards at my doctors office - wearing the same clothes when I weighed at home. The Weight Watcher scale was always several pounds different in this scenario.When I got the Gurin, I placed it on the floor next to the Weight Watch scale and tested them both out. First I stood on both to get an initial reading - they were about 2 pounds off from each other - but ignoring this, I now had a baseline for each to see how they reflect changes in weight. I then picked up my cell phone and keys and stood back on the scales. The Gurin weight went up but the Weight Watcher scale gave the same reading as before. I then removed my shoes and weighed again - the Gurin weight went down, the Weight Watcher weight remained the same as the first reading. I'm glad I made the switch to the Gurin scale.

So the scale overall works fairly well. Not much to say about it. Clean look to it and thick glass piece you stand on. I think the accuracy was off by like 40lbs but that just might be wishful thinking on my part. Fast readings and stays on for a few seconds. Also nice that when it goes into sleep mode so that I dont have to tap with my foot to turn on and then weigh myself. Even if it went to sleep mode all you have to do is stand on it and it will start counting those doughnuts you ate earlier. Pretty nifty tape measure they included with. It has a locking feature so the tape measure doenst instantly contract. The only thing that is bad but so petty, 1 out of the 4 batteries was exploded and the 2nd one was dead but didnt leak acid yet. I guess would just want better quality control before they ship it out.

This is an attractive scale that is easy to read and "accurate", in that it provides consistent readings from day to day. I don't have a beam and balance scale in the bathroom to compare it with, so I don't know if the displayed weight is our actual weight to the ounce, but what we care about is increases and decreases over time.Two things to note, however. First the "4.3 inch" display is measured diagonally, so the displayed numerals are actually 2" high. That's not large enough for me to read without my glasses on, but easily readable for anyone with normal vision. The display is quite bright and crisp.Second, I found that if I pick it up by the top of the scale (the end nearest the display) to move it to another room, the first time I use it the weight is off by several pounds. If I step off and back on, it reads correctly until I pick it up and move it again, Sliding it across the floor in the bathroom does not cause this problem.I am happy with it.

Purchased this to start my weightloss journey. It does not and has never given an accurate reading. First off it arrive with batteries installed that were dead! So went and purchased the highest quality battery. Out it in. Over 30 days did my weigh in;s. The numbers on the scale would fluctuate daily. not just 1 or 2 lbs.. more like 10 to 15 lbs. Do you have any idea how this messes with your head? To get on a scale one day and it tells you .. you lost 10 to 15 lbs that week? I would get so excited thinking this is awesome I am doing a great job. I always weigh myself 5 times. first 4 times lost 10 lbs... 5th time gained 20 lbs. stepped off... changed batteries. Now I have lost NO pounds... This went on for months. VERY upsetting and crushes your motivation. Sorry GURIN you have ALOT of work ahead of you because this scale is now in the local dump where it belongs. A scale should never fluctuate that much weight and crush someone the way that your scale did to me. If I could give 0 I would. I would NOT recommend this to anyone.

This scale is perfect. The display is huge so I can see it even without my glasses in the morning. It is designed so you just step onto it to turn it on. This will be especially helpful in a couple weeks when I have foot surgery again and will only be able to stand on one leg. My old scale had a button to push with your toe and then only a couple seconds to step on the scale so it was nearly impossible after my previous surgeries. With this one, after you stand on it for a couple seconds it flashes to let you know it has your weight set and then gives you a good amount of time to read it before the display clears. I'm so happy with this scale. It is also nice looking and not as large as some which is good in my small home.
