Great looking smart fan marred by poor instructions
I am usually lazy and don’t write long reviews, however, seeing some bad reviews, I thought of clarifying certain things about this fan. BTW, I am not a professional reviewer and I did not get this fan free to review. I paid full price at Amazon as I was looking to upgrade my living room fan and had four main requirements: 1) Smart fan that can work with Alexa and Google Home, 2) Sliver grey color to match, 3) contemporary looks and 4) light module with >3500K daylight. After researching various sites, we finally agreed on Axis fan by modern forms as it was checking all our four boxes. Fan arrived promptly with Amazon Prime shipping. It met the expectations as far as contemporary looks and silver-grey color to match our living room decor. The hardest part which has been mentioned by other reviewers was the installation and the poor instructions. I had to call their tech support 3-times before installation. I am fairly tech-savvy and usually do not read instructions unless I get stuck. Since, I had never installed a fan, I thought of reading the instructions. It seems like one of the engineers wrote the instructions and added the pictures with a lot of assumptions and not thinking about end-users.Here is the first tip: Read the TEXT in the instructions and not go the pictures only. Luckily, their technical support and customer support is readily available. You can talk to the real person and not bots. They are knowledgeable, courteous, and nice; however, they are still learning and are also challenged by the poor instructions. If you are replacing an older fan which was my case, DO NOT USE the existing fan mount. Given that mounts are universal as far as holding fan is concerned, I was tempted to do that. However, this smart fan comes with a WIFI receiver which slides into the mounting bracket that came with the fan.The fan came with super long electrical cables and a metal safety cable. Given that it is so compact, there is no way to fold the cables and store in the fan canopy, you need to cut the extra electrical cables and keep the length based on your downrod size. The canopy will not hold the extra length of cables. The safety cable is also very long and useless. I ended up cutting it.After you make all the connections, the challenge is to neatly tuck the receiver into the mounting bracket. The picture in the manual is useless. The receiver slides with a flat side facing ceiling into the mounting bracket leaving barely any room to tuck the extra wires. That is the reason you cannot afford to have extra wires. The fan comes with a nice wall control which I have not installed yet.About the smart fan feature, it was fairly painless to setup. All you need to do is install their app on a smartphone. Use your existing Google account to log in. It will go through a clunky process of temporarily connecting to your WIFI on a smartphone (old process, but works). Once you have the app running, you can control LED light and fan with nice controls on a smartphone. To connect with Alexa and google home, simply go to the Alexa app and search for “modern forms” in the skill section and link your account.Despite the painful process of installation, I am very happy with the airflow, quietness, and modern looks of this fan. My only complaint at this point is the LED light despite being 3500K yet it is not white. I reached out to customer support and they are sending me a new LED module.Overall, I am giving it 5 stars, as the fan is excellent in all aspects (except for instructions) and the technical/customer support is awesome.

It's beautiful and functional
We remodeled our office and went with a darker decor. Our fan fits the motif beautifully. It's quiet and effective. The remote control is handy. We're very happy. It was delivered on time with no damage to the box whatsoever.

GARBAGE!!! The brains exploded with a "POP". Manufacturer making the return a nightmare.
Crap quality. Looks good, but doesn't work, so useless. Problematic return, wont return, weeks on attempted exchange of part that electrician will have to do, "IF" that is the problem.

Pretty difficult install but great fans and switch
Installed two fans on a single switch. The assembly and wiring were tough because all of the wiring AND the remote etc were all in the housing where its mounted. The electricians, being paid by the hour, were about two hours total. Around $160.

Quietest running fan ever
Replaced outdated pull string fan w/light. It’s perfect. The light can be dimmed another plus. Remote is easy to operate. Cools our large master bedroom. Will purchase again.

Not a 100% accurate discription
The material listed says aluminum. This is not 100% correct ... The fan blades are plasticI was specifically looking for metal (not) plastic blades

Good fan, but disappointing light
I bought the Axis fan from Modern Forms, because I had previously purchased the 5 blade Wynd fan from the same company, and really liked it, but wanted the more modern appearance of the 3 blade Axis. What I didn’t realize, was that the light kit on the Axis is different from that on the Wynd — the Axis light, although rated the same lumens, is smaller in diameter, and has a frosted cover, that seems to let less light out, than the clear acrylic cover on the larger diameter Wynd light. The Wynd appears far brighter, and really lights up the room, while the Axis makes me want to buy a lamp to supplement it (hard to show the difference in photos, but I’ll try; note the number of blades to differentiate the Axis from the Wynd). That said, my wife prefers the appearance of the 3 blade Axis, saying it looks more modern. Three blades, however, don’t move as much air as 5. We have to operate the Axis at level 4 or 5, to get the same effect as the Wynd at level 3. Here are my likes of this fan: quiet DC motor, sleek appearance, high efficiency, smart controls (I have it set up with Amazon Echo, and it works perfectly), fairly easy installation (if you know how to do basic electrical wiring), and bundled RF wall switch. Dislikes: light not as bright as I’d like, wall switch not illuminated (hard to see what to press in the dark), not as effective at moving air as the Wynd (but not bad at higher speeds).Still a decent fan, but I’m buying more Wynd units to replace the rest of our old fans.

Best fan EVER - ordering another!
I've waited four months to write this review in order to have enough time for any issues to arise. Happy to say this is absolutely the BEST FAN EVER! It's absolutely silent, has several speeds that range from barely moving to tornado status. At the highest speed the only thing you can hear in the air moving - the fan itself is completely silent. The aesthetic is perfection and really transformed my living room, as the previous 'traditional' style fan stuck out like a sore thumb against my modern decor. As for installation, I had my regular handyman do it --- I warned him the reviews said it was complicated. He took the old fan down and had this one installed in about 30 minutes and said there wasn't anything especially challenging about it. I recommend avoiding the frustration of a self-installation and have someone do it who installs them on a regular basis (shouldn't cost more than $50-$75).A+++
