This is the best book on putting - hands down
Great book on putting. Again a great book about the truths of motor learning versus the standard golf instruction. Tons of research are summarized in this book. Major lesson: "Focus on the outcome, not the process".With references from golf science, Dr. Riddoch provides reasons and tips to dramatically improve your putting. Studies from Grober, Vickers, and other scientists are combined together into practical recommendations about putting. Great stuff. How should you aim? What should you look at? What kind of stroke should you use? What are good practice methods? Should you practice the same stroke until you "groove" it, or make practice hard so you stink at it? But which approach translates to the course? All here in a very readable book.High recommended. In fact, forget everything else.MRH

Solid Approach to Putting
This book has a lot of suggestions that seem to make sense. Unfortunately, the winter weather is preventing me from trying to incorporate them on the course and into my game. I tried some of the tips on my living room carpet and they seem to make a positive difference. What I like most about this author's approach is that he gets away from the robotic and mechanical Dave Pelz theories that have ruined far too many putting strokes. Overall I think this is a good book for those struggling with their putting.

Changed my game. His book (practiced) put me in another bracket of player
Any book without practice is worthless. This author writes in clear language. He backs up assertions with cites to research. And the book is written in a logical progression of concepts. I practice what I learn in the book a couple of times a week and it has reduced my score 15-18 strokes per round. Knowing some of the science and dispelling long held myths of putting was key for me. It's an amazing book and I'm not much for golf books.

This advice works!
My putting improved tremendously after reading this book and incorporating the suggestions into my putting procedure. Just the other day I had 27 putts compared to my typical 33 average. The key items I am using: (1) the three position aiming technique; (2) focusing on the hole to make it look larger...sounds goofy but it works; (3) quiet eye period before the stroke. I'm not thinking about my stoke or mechanics at all, and I don't beat myself up when I miss. I've read many golf books and this is the first time I can honestly say I read something that had such an immediate impact on my game. Thank you Chris Riddoch!

No more methods
Having tried numerous methods, after reading this book I realize that the best method is MY method, which is really no method at all. Mr. Riddock explains how the way we use our mind is what matters most, not mechanics. Included are wonderful drills to train the mind to relearn how to putt like a kid again.
