Loved it
This is a wonderful little book. Wished I’d thought of it. It brought back so many memories of first grade for me. The illustrations are so well done. Made me smile. Made me laugh out loud. The way it intertwines Spock, Kirk, Uhura, Dr. McCoy, Scottie, Chekhov, Sulu, and The Red Shirts with Dick and Jane is so well done. It references many of my favorite episodes. I’ve bought this book and sent it to two friends who also loved it. Thank you to the writer for making my day.

"Hilarious!!!" Or, "Clearly Made with Love, and I Love It!!"
SPOT ON!! A "children's book" for adults, this strikes all the right chords (and it is hilarious!!!!) but it is not so adult that you might be concerned if it ended up in a child's hands (although I have not read each and every page, so no promises!) The concept Is straightforward and seems like it would be hard to screw up, but I know of course it's quite possible! Mr. Pearlman nails it however, along with the illustrations, which are a pure delight to pore over... Any excuse for great new Star Trek illustrations is sufficient for me, and here we have a different one on every page!I must say I was surprised by how many (essential) anecdotes from TOS that are crammed into this thing. An actual child's book would only have a fraction of the pages found here! An adult's attention span can of course accommodate so much more than a small kid's, and more we are given. It's not novel-length or anything even remotely close to that, but it has more than enough pages that you can just pick it up from time to time, and go for a good while before you run out of new pages to look at in it.All told, this book will make you SMILE. This book will make you giggle, this book will make you LAUGH! And it makes suuuuch a good gift. :)

Fun Book, not really akin to Fun with Dick and Jane
The book was fun to read, however I was expecting something at first grade reading level, like Fun with Dick and Jane. The book is simply written however it is probably about 4th or 5th grade level. In order to enjoy the book the reader will need to be familiar with Star Trek, The Original Series. For example one section mentions red shirts going to the planet’s surface. The text indicates that it’s not good to get to attached to any of the red shirts. Fans will definitely get the reference, however if you’re purchasing the book for a small child, (as I did,) it’s probably not the best option. However if you’re looking for something to give as a gift to a Star Trek fan, the book is a fun choice. Spock might say, “Live long and purchase.”

My father loved this!!
I purchased this book as a gift to my dad, who is an all time Star Trek fan. He bothered me for years to watch it, so I finally gave in. Now we have marathon days. Well, Father's Day swung around so I searched for a fun gift relatable to this. What a perfect find! He was highly amused. I recommend this to any fan!

とってもユニーク
体裁は子供向けになってますが、実は大人のほうが楽しめるのでは。絵もいいし、オリジナルシリーズファンにはおすすめです。個人的にはカーンについてのところが一番面白かったです。

THESE ARE THE PAGES...
If you 'get' Star Trek the original series, with all it's gaudy costumes and 60's philosophies, you'll love this. And even if you don't know Nomad (psychotic satellite), or Gorgan (megalomaniacal, non-corporeal entity), or Gav (Tellarite), or any of the other 1st, 2nd or 3rd season references, it's STILL laugh-out-loud funny. FUN WITH KIRK AND SPOCK is a beautifully bound and presented send-up of American learn-to-read books, but for the older generations. Occasionally, the humour (sorry, humor) is very sharp - the piece with Uhura and Abraham Lincoln, for example, is a history lesson with uncomfortable echoes that still resonate today. Of course, it wouldn't be Star Trek without Kirk's leading man foibles, Spock's internal struggles and McCoy's heightened emotions, all shown in ways you've always suspected but never thought about, at least not like this. Every series regular gets their characters thrust into the spotlight and even those poor 'redshirts' can't avoid what is almost certainly an untimely demise. Yet again. The text is complimented by perfectly rendered illustrations which convey everything you need to know...and all in the name of education. I think it's fair to say that the author has definitely NOT dropped a Balok with this wonderful book (UK vernacular, apologies).More, please.See this book?See how this book works its magic? Now you're smiling. Is that a laugh, too?Yes, yes it is!So laugh out loud.Boldly if you can.And split that infinitive as well as your sides.VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
