Father Brown Mysteries The Innocence of Father Brown [Large Print Edition]: The Complete & Unabridged Original Classic

The stories are the classic Father Brown. No need to say anything further about that. The problem with the large print edition is that, as with a number of large print books these days, the publisher scrimps on the amount of print that it uses in order to save a few bucks. My 101 year old mother loves to read large print books, when she is not playing bridge. A number of the books, however, including this one, give her problems because the print is faint. Large print books are made for people who have problems seeing. Why do they make the print, although large, faint? I would suggest not purchasing the large print edition unless you have pretty good eyesight.

I bought this large print edition because I wanted to experience the actual Father Brown stories. I was disappointed that the series were not like the BBC TV series at all. The series is described as being "loosely based" on the Chesterston stories, and that is an understatement. I read about 3 of the stories and the writing style, historical period, plots, and even secondary characters in the BBC series is nothing like the Father Brown original stories. The only thing really in common is a priest is the main character, and the Father Brown in the series is not like the little priest described in the original written series.I was hoping I would have something that would be akin to the Jeremy Brett Granada series that are faithful to the original stories by Conan Doyle. While it's hard to find work that rivals Arthur Conan Doyle's storytelling, it was disappointing that the original Father Brown stories aren't nearly as good as the television series.

I have the original book of Father Brown Mysteries. The print is so small that I can hardly read it for very long. Glad I ordered this larger print version. I know it is a repeat of some of the stories, but they are good to read over. I am so glad I ordered it. Thank you for the fast service and great condition.

Excellent reading. Had me referring to my dictionary a few times for some interesting and uncommon words. Short stories that you can read all at once or just do one or two a day. Challenging plots for even the keenest crime drama buff. Fr. Brown is such an unassuming slueth, you hardly notice he is around until he is summing up the crime at the end of the story. I have been circulating this book among my friends and getting nothing but very positive feedback.

This large print book is just what I wanted and the price was good.

I watch this series on PBS and decided to try to find the book by this author they describe. I enjoyed reading these short stories.
