Lionel Home for The Holiday Ready-to-Play Set, Battery-powered Model Train Set with Remote

We bought this for our Great-Grandson this past Christmas. My husband had fun getting it ready for him to open on Christmas. He played with it a little while before we put it back in the box. It consisted of adding the batteries then making sure it would run with the remote. Grandson and 3 year old great grandson had fun setting it up under their tree and let it run while they opened their gifts on Christmas morning. It will now become a tradition with their family,

My 11 year old put the tracks together for my 4 year old. That’s pretty much all we had to do, my 4 year has been playing with it for the last 2 days and has been able to fix the track and put the train back on the tracks all by himself. Very impressed with Lionel products thus far.

This product is ok for what it is. Hopefully from pictures/price it's obvious that it is mostly plastic and not a top of the line train or anything, but even so this train can be frustrating. It's nice enough to look at, but can be very finicky to operate. Tends to come derailed, especially when backing up, and its difficult to tell if you ever have it perfectly aligned on the tracks. Also the cars can unhook from themselves as the clasps aren't designed to be very tight. As others state it is on the loud side when running too, though not a big deal if only running for short periods. Overall, nice looking for the price, but operation is sub-par.

Not sure why trains are so expensive.. This one was one of the cheaper options.You get four carts and a remote plus tracks.Batteries are not included so you need to buy those as well. Only the remote and first cart need the batteries.If you turn the train on without the remote itll beep at you (which is a bit agitating)..The train itself will continuously make noise while on.. There is no way to turn the noise down. That would be my one request as it is surprising loud.We basically use it as decor around the tree and only run it for the kids for a few minutes at a time due to the loudness of it.The connector to the carts could be better... if you go backward (which is an option) then forward they may come undone.Overall still a good option for the price. It works just fine just with some quirks. I gave four stars mainly for the lack of volume control which limits how much we will actually use it.

Exaclty what I expected, great quality. Kids loved seeing this train under the tree Christmas morning! My 7 year old son spent more time playing with this than other/fancier gifts

This was a nice set but the engine did not work. I returned it and they refunded my money.

Bought this for my grandson he loves Lionel, it broke the first day. We are so disappointed.

The train set is easy to assemble and the pieces are sturdy and well crafted. Connecting the train cars while they are situated on the track correctly could be challenging for a kid, adult help may be required. I wish there was a volume knob, as my son liked pushing the button for the sounds continuously. I love that I could put it away for a year until next Christmas -- but I look forward to seeing it again!
