TS525TU Chief Thinstall Wall Mount for Flat Panel Display 37-58

We had requirement for a thin, sturdy and agile mount for our 55" TV. The TS525U met every requirement and to top it off was easy to install. Everything required (except for tools) was in the box. The wall mounted portion comes completely assembled and ready to attach to the wall with 4 lag bolts (if going in to studs like our installation). The TV side is equally simple, just 4 pieces that get assembled and attached to the TV. The instructions were very clear and resulted in a perfect installation on the first attempt! One other positive about this mount is that even with a 55" TV you can still turn the screen near 45 degrees to view from another room if you like. I have stated the pros and in all fairness would like to mention a con or two but I have none. This mount met every requirement that we had and was easy to install (ok it is heavy so have help available). I would (and have) recommended this product to a friend.

Very solid unit, well designed, comes nearly fully assembled, however not a great value, very expensive. Bought per high end reputable audio and video store sales associate recommendation and performed DIY installation with help of another person as is HEAVY. Easily holds 65" OLED TV. Aesthetically very pleasing overall. Other than price, I am very pleased with this TV mount from highly reputable manufacturer whose been around for a very long time.

Now that CRT TVs are gone the opening above the fireplace has become a decorating challenge. This mount has worked out great. I framed in the opening recessed back about one inch to give the wall mount a little room to retract in to. Instead of 2X4s at the locations the mount would be attached I used 4X4s for better support. I have been able to install a computer, my cable box, and a fan in the opening behind the TV. The fan is connected to a Lux WIN100 Heating & Cooling Programmable Outlet Thermostat (also purchase through Amazon). The outlet thermostat is set to 85F and works great to keep my equipment cool when the fireplace is running. The mount allows me to pull the TV out and pivot it allowing viewing from the dining room. This feature also made installing the equipment behind the TV and running all the wires very easy!

I've had this about a year now and still love it. The thing is solid and moves well. It does not glide like it is on ball bearings or anything, so it takes a some pressure to move it, but it moves smoothly. My only gripe is about the little plastic cord covers; they are very cheap and easy to break off. Come on guys, you have a great product. Why downgrade it to save 12 cents on cheap plastic. But be careful when mounting it. Your TV may not have the mounting points on center vertically. I went through all the instructions on how and where to mount it assuming that it would mount to the vertical center of the TV. Well, mine has the mounting points below center so the TV is higher than I wanted. But my wife likes it there so guess where it stayed.

I went to Best Buy to figure out which "high quality" wall mount would give me 90° motion all while being one of the thinnest wall mounts on the market, and they pointed me towards this Chief Thinstall TS525TU mount (which was back ordered, so I got it here on Amazon). Turns out, this wall mount was none of those things. NOT HIGH QUALITY, and only Gives me ~70° left to right motion for a 55" TV, and worst of all it is not all that thin because 1. To tilt the screen down it has to be pulled out away from the mounting plate and 2. To be completely flush it has to be pushed fully against the wall and "click into place," which my mount does not do without a lot of force. The worst part of this mount is truly the tilting feature. You have to forcefully push the screen forward until you feel that it is even on both sides and tilted to the desired position and then tighten the tilting bolts which are attached in the picture. These bolts are very difficult to reach as they are hidden behind the side of the mounting plate, so it takes a lot of force with a wrench to reach and tighten them. Worst of all THEY DO NOT HOLD THE TILT IN PLACE. When you push the tv back to sit flush against the wall the tv also will slowly slide back towards 0 tilt. For the price of this mount this is a complete disgrace. There are also screws coming out from certain parts of the mount, and a gold color metal fastener that sits between where the arms slide against each other has already come off. I'm highly disappointed in Best Buy as well, because this TV mount is not made for today's lightweight 50+inch TVs. It is an expensive heavy duty mount that has been produced for many years, and should probably go into extinction with today's lightweight TV's. I believe Best Buy has some kind of exclusive deal with the parent company of Chief, so they try to push these expensive antiquated mounts as much as possible BE WARE! I also called Chiefs customer service, and all they could tell me was that I needed to get in touch with the retailer as only retailers handle warranties, damaged products, and unsatisfied customers. Since I already paid $200 to have it mounted and I purchased this on Amazon it is very difficult to justify replacing something like this. Writing this review so less people make the same mistake I did, LESSON LEARNED: MORE EXPENSIVE DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN BETTER QUALITY!

I like the mobility of it. extends 25" and can turn almost 180 degrees. the concept of the cable management going on the arm sounded great. Major Problem still trying to figure out how to run my wires. If you use the arms to run the wires the cords end up on top of tv and not the bottom where you need them. With the wires going down the side they get in the way of pushing tv all the way against wall.

Excellent product - strong, properly engineered heavy cast arms with fine machined & wide pivots, excellent stability, well painted and a suprisingly aesthetic look. However, I would have been very much more impressed if the covers were made of better engineering plastic material, with more robust latches. I would also suggest that full-scale plan and elevation views be provided for the entire range of articulation - this would help plan volume-space for deployment with the target TV. Even better, Autocad/ Solid model files could be offered for download as required. Greatly recommend this product.

Works exactly as expected and hoped for. Note however, that it's quite heavy and while you have some left/right adjustment post installation, there is no post installation leveling adjustment so take great care when drilling mounting holes. Because of the heavy weight, it will take two fairly strong people to install. The built in wire guides are a nice feature, although be careful when handling the mount prior to installation as the wire guides are somewhat flimsy. In fact my first order of this mount had to be returned because it arrived with a broken wire guide. After installation works exactly as advertised allowing down tilt and/or angling to left or right. At this point it requires a fair amount of strength to move the TV on the mount, but that's because I have not yet attempted to adjust the tension. The instructions for that are a bit complicated.
