What a dissapointment! I had loved the first book of the series: "The Heart of Danger" and had skipped the 2nd book because I got the impression from some of this book's reviews that the main female character was a love-sick heroine, something I detest. But the book description of "Breaking Danger" sounded like a story I would like, how wrong I was!For starter I did not like the beginning: too much time spent on describing the scenario. Also I do not like it when the hero's good looks are described as "beautiful", I thought I might gag if I read one more time he was like a Nordic God. But what turn me off completely was (SPOILER ALERT TO FOLLOW!!!!!) that the heroine eagerly allows a TOTAL stranger to makes love to her, the second they meet (don't care how desperate the situation was), it spoiled the rest of the book (for me). To make matters worse (again for me) the whole love scene was told only from her point of view, it is all about what she is feeling, how great it is for her and on. and on, and afterwards she does not act or think like an inteligent, beautiful woman in the middle of a crisis, instead she comes accross like a moon-struck, insecure teenager, unable to think, talk, walk etc., because she is so consumed by her fascination with him. From 5% when they meet and make love, till 23%(Kindle Talk) the story is told from her point of view or someone else's. We "really" don't get his point of view after meeting & and making love to her until about 24%, and even then his thoughts are very tamed in comparison to hers.End of SPOILER! I gave this book 2 stars because I enjoyed so much reading about Mac & Catherine and I gave it another star (for a grand total of 3 stars, because I usually like this author's stories.

I loved the series, I enjoyed Jon story . I have all the her books and love the stories, this series is the best because of the plot at the beginning of book one, the characters and all they go thru and yet they are the ones that save the day. I had to re-read the first 2 books in order to remember what was what. I enjoyed the book from top to bottom and love the ending, I recommend this series, it is a must have for your library.

This was a nice finish to the series, I was really looking forward to the zombie outbreak and was satisfied with how it played out. There was perhaps a little less romance in this book than one from the dangerous series, but it's rather difficult to woo a woman when you are trying to get her out of a zombie infested city. I was also fairly satisfied with the ending. While this might not be my favorite Lisa Marie Rice novel, it was a fun read and a good conclusion to the series. The only thing I really questioned was why the vaccinations were not used on Jon and Sophie.

I am not at all into zombie apocalypse books, but I really enjoyed reading this aspect of the book - it really made for an exciting thriller. I loved the heroine - she was genius smart and planned ahead on how to save everyone from the virus. The hero was just okay for me, not a bad guy, no TSTL, but nothing stood out to me (he wasn't super alpha, he wasn't super smart, funny, just okay)Often in Rice's books, I find myself skipping over the chapters on the villain, but here there aren't any and I really liked that. However and unfortunately, all that introspection now occurs with the hero and heroine and as a result there is waaaay too much internal thinking on both their parts. I really wish there had been more interaction/dialogue between the hero and heroine other than sex. I also wish there had been more details in the ending such as what exactly everyone was doing or with the exception of Mac, do you just assume they are doing the same occupation as before? You don't get to know what happened to the other lab rat victims so perhaps Rice is planning to do some novellas on them - it would be nice to read how they reach an HEA.

I can't begin to tell you what a powerful love story this was!!! I hope and pray this will NEVER come to be but if it did send me JON!!! I enjoyed seeing all the characters again! I love Mac and Catherine and would have loved to hear more from them but alas it wasn't their story to tell!!!! Enjoy this cause Romance doesn't get my better!!!! I couldn't put it down. It is fast paced . I really like Jon and Sophie. This series definitely has a futuristic feel to it that seems to advanced for just 20 years in the future but if you don't let that distract you this is a great romantic suspense series. This is number three be sure to read them in order.

This was not a very plausible storyline, but perhaps the best romantic couple that the author has come up with in a very long time. I had just about given up on the author, but I see some redeeming moments in this book. I will continue to buy from her, for now.

I stumbled upon this trilogy purely by accident whilst looking for something else but how lucky was I? The story just grips you from the very beginning. Yes there is the Alpha male and then the damsel in distress but, to be fair the damsel is a very clever individual which makes a refreshing change. The chemistry between both is great and even though the leading lady cannot match the Alpha male in strength she certainly hold her own. Very good read.

Brilliant, I absolutely love her books and know I am going to enjoy them before I even start reading. Anyway it is that long since the last one in the series I am going back to the first book and starting again. Can't wait for Metal's story. The only little gripe is I wish she would write a little bit more about John and Suzannah, Claire and Bud and Allegra and Douglas - just a few little titbits will do.

It’s wonderful!“Mit einem Buch, in dem dieser Satz in vollem Ernst ausgesprochen wird, kann nur irgendetwas falsch sein.Ich habe bereits ein paar Bücher von ihr gelesen und jedes Mal wieder in der Erwartung, ein gutes Buch in der Hand zu halten. Das Problem ist, dass mich die Inhaltsangaben und Klappentexte jedes Mal wieder ansprechen. Es sind Bücher mit starken Männern, die sich in Combat Boots und in Stützpunkten wohler fühlen, als in Anzug und Bürogebäuden und das ist nunmal der Männertyp auf den ich fliege, wenn ich meine romantische Ader auslebe und Liebesbücher verschlinge.Und die weiblichen Protagonistinnen sprechen mich auch jedes Mal wieder an - Frauen auf der Flucht, hochintelligente Professorinnen, ruhige Mädchen von Nebenan. Die meisten Protagonistinnen, die unentwegt plappern, brüllen und fluchen, während sie sich irrational verhalten, gehen mir nämlich ziemlich auf die Nerven. Und solche Protagonistinnen gibt es bei Lisa Marie Rice nicht.Was ist nun das Problem mit ihren Büchern? Die Handlungsstränge sprechen mich an, die Protagonisten - was erwarte ich mir mehr von einem guten Buch?Beginnen wir einmal bei dem Beispiel von „Breaking Danger“, dem letzten Teil der „Ghost Ops“-Trilogie. Den ersten Teil habe ich nicht gelesen, den zweiten schon und den dritten lese ich gerade und habe das dringende Bedürfnis meinen Kopf an der Wand einzuschlagen, wie es diverse Individuen in dem Buch bereits getan haben.Die Ausgangssituation ist relativ einfach - es gibt eine geheime, militärische Gruppierung, die so geheim ist, dass die Mitglieder selbst fast nicht wissen, dass sie überhaupt existieren. Als sie schließlich von ihrem General verraten werden, packen drei der Soldaten ihre Sachen und flüchten, während ihre Kameraden gefangen genommen werden. Die drei - Mac, Nick und Jon - bauen sich einen Zufluchtsort auf, den sie kurz und bündig „Haven“ nennen, wo sie im Laufe der Zeit weitere Leute aufnehmen, die vor Regierung, Verbrechern oder was es sonst noch alles gibt flüchten.Doch schließlich erfahren die drei, dass ihre Kameraden nicht vor ein Gericht - so geheim es auch sein müsste - gestellt wurden, sondern als Versuchskaninchen in einem Labor missbraucht werden. Und voíla - hier ist unser Bösewicht. Akra, eine Pharmaziefirma, die Leute mit „übersinnlichen“ Fähigkeiten untersucht und deren Chef, den Wunsch hat eine Generation von Supersoldaten zu züchten. In Teil zwei - I Dream of Danger - gelingt es besagten Chef einen bösartigen Virus zu erschaffen und sich gleichzeitig damit anzustecken. Die Seuche bricht schnell und gnadenlos aus und droht ganz Californien zu infizieren und das Beste daran ist - die Infizierten werden zombieähnlich.Sie werden von einer besinnungslosen Wut übermannt, die sie dazu bringt ihre Mitmenschen zu attackieren und zu zerfleischen. Durch ihre Bisse überträgt sich das Virus weiter und weiter, während die Infizierten alle rationalen Gedanken verlieren. Lustig, oder?Ich mag solche Bücher, also bis hierhin ist immer noch alles in Ordnung.Aber jetzt kommt dieser gewaltige Kritikpunkt über den ich nicht hinweg sehen kann.Sex.Klar, bei einer Erotikautorin sollte ich erwarten, dass Sex vorkommt, nicht wahr? Und ich habe wirklich nichts dagegen, ich lese dieses Buch ja im vollen Bewusstsein, dass es eine erotische Liebesgeschichte ist. Aber mit Maß und Ziel.Es gibt da diese Szene, wo Jon sich durch eine Horde voll von Infizierten kämpft, bis zu dem Haus, in dem sein zukünftiger Loveinterest sich versteckt hat. (Oh, großer starker Mann und Rettungsaktion *swoon*) Die beiden haben sich bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch kein einziges Mal gesehen. Sie hatten überhaupt keinen Kontakt miteinander. Also - Jon fällt durch die Tür tatsächlich ins Haus, direkt auf Sophie (loveinterest) hinauf, knallt die Tür zu, Zombies knallen dagegen.Und dann haben sie Sex.Direkt vor der Tür, wo ein Zombie davor steht (okay, sie warten bis er weggeht), auf dem Fußboden, zwei Minuten nachdem sie sich das erste Mal gesehen haben, haben sie Sex.Jon ist zuvor in einem Helikopter und ist über zwei kleine Kinder hinweg geflogen, die sich in einer Baumkrone versteckt haben. während Zombie gegen den Baumstamm hämmerten. Und dann hat er Sex. Wie bringt der Typ da noch einen hoch? Ich meine, kalt und berechnend finde ich verdammt sexy. Aber das ist nicht mehr kalt und berechnend, das ist absurd.Also - Jon und Sophie haben Sex.Danach reden sie ein bisschen über die Zombies, Sophie wirft mit Fachchinesisch um sich und während draußen weiterhin Zombie hin und her torkeln, denkt Jon daran, wie er mit Sophie Sex hatte. Ein bisschen später zieht ein Zombieschwarm an ihnen vorbei - und um fair zu sein, den hat sie wirklich gut beschrieben. Wirklich, das war eine tolle Szene, die mir Gänsehaut über den Rücken gejagt hat.Besagter Zombieschwarm zieht an ihnen vorbei, Sophie hält es noch ein bisschen zusammen, dann bekommt sie einen Nervenzusammenbruch und heult sich auf Jons Schoß aus. Verständlich, finde ich.Danach kommt noch ein bisschen, was in Jons Vergangenheit so passiert ist - was unter anderem drogenabhängige Eltern und Pädophile enthält - und die beiden reden miteinander.Bis dahin fand ich es super.Bis die beiden Sex haben. Während draußen ein paar tausend Zombies vorbeiziehen. Und sie gerade darüber geredet haben, dass seine Eltern ihn an einen Pädophilen verkauft haben. Ich meine, er wurde nicht vergewaltigt, aber trotzdem.Es war einfach *booom* wir haben jetzt Sex. Weil Baum.Maß und Ziel. Maß und Ziel. Maß und Ziel… kapiert? Ich kann das jetzt noch ewig vor mich hin brabbeln, bis das im Kopf jeder Erotikautorin eingraviert ist.Nun ja, vermutlich bin ich selbst schuld, weil ich dieses Buch gelesen habe. Immerhin wusste ich, dass mich Sexszenen erwartet haben. Aber ernsthaft - dieses Ausmaß und dieses irrationale, sinnlose Verhalten war zu viel. Genau wie die ständigen Gedanken der Protagonisten um Sex. Hey, Menschen sterben, aber deine Brüste sind so wunderschön und schmecken nach Kirschen (!). Lass uns Sex haben. Aber nein, wir brauchen kein Vorspiel, ich sehe dich einfach nur an und schon ist dein Körper bereit dazu mit mir Sex zu haben.Uff.Ich fühle mich zu alt für solche Bücher. Oder zu jung? Vielleicht hat es nichts mit dem Alter zu tun. Vielleicht hat es was mit geistiger Reife zu tun. Oder… keine Ahnung. Ich halt die Klappe und mache mir eine rote Markierung nie wieder ein Buch von Lisa Marie Rice zu lesen, egal wie verführerisch sich der Klappentext anhört.

Adorei o final da série. Tem tudo lá, Amor, aventura, suspense, ficção cientifica. E o final, mostrando o que aconteceu com todos os casais.
