Official (ISC)2® Guide to the ISSMP® CBK® ((ISC)2 Press)

Unlike the ISSEP ISC2 book the ISSMP one is relatively current. I started reading the book in October and took the exam in December - and thanks to the new testing format found out my result instantly. I think the ISSMP is a simpler exam than the ISSEP since it is somewhat more generic. I would say that the exam is somewhat of a crap shoot even after reading the book and I would suggest printing out material on some of the more substantial topics covered. Having put the time in to study and pass the exam I have to be honest and say I am not sure it really has benefited me getting an ISSMP - just being honest. Good luck.

If you are a CISSP thinking about upping your credentials with the ISSMP concentration, wait until this certification is vetted with a few more revisions before attempting the test.In April 2015, (ISC)2 released this second edition with updated references and question bank for the certification test. After failing the test the first time by a couple of questions, I doubled down targeting the identified weakness identified in the test feedback. I was somewhat concerned the test did not appear to reflect the CBK, but figured it was from how I targeted my preparation. After failing the test a second time with the same weaknesses and the same score, I sent a query to (ISC)2 identifying my concerns about the certification test and the information in the CBK and CIB. An excerpt from their response follows:"The exam itself is truly designed to gauge the members real world professional experience across the domains ... The CBK Guides themselves have never been designed to be written to the exam or as a study guide for that matter. Instead, they are meant to be an authoritative reference to the Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) and serve as a go to reference guide for the certification in question."IAW, the CBK is not intended to prepare you for the certification test. Individuals contributed questions for the certification test based on real world experiences in the domains, not the CBK.Hopefully you have the right experiences to pass this certification. The CBK is not going to be much help in preparing for the test.

I had received the 2011 Kindle edition a few months ago; but I recently learned that the domain names changed, and that new contents were added. It would be great to understand if the contents on the Kindle 2013 edition been updated from the 2011 edition to match such added contents and new domain names. It also would have been great to know that the CBK was about to be updated and that the 2011 edition was not up-to-date.

Book arrived on time and good quality... Unfortunately, it was not the latest version...no fault of the vendor (my mistake)

I read through the book once. Nothing groundbreaking. Nothing special. Nothing made me go "AH HA!". It's just a book about strategic security management. Flows nicely.

The book is very and I mean very repetitive, and it has exactly the same content as the John Steinberg and Barbara Johnson book, but under different authors, how is that possible?

This book is awful - don't buy it, you do not need it. It contains very over complicated ideas and concepts that are not tested in the exam - in addition the question examples are nothing like the exam at all.. I was very disappointed by this expensive purchase.
