Simply the Best!
This book is by far the best I have read on helping kids with homework!! Whether you have a child that has ADD/ADHD or just one that struggles with homework this book is for you! I took the author's advice and read the first few chapters first before reading the profiles of the various student types, disorganized, distracted, frustrated etc. Once I got to the profiles I found a little bit of my son in most of them! The tips the author gives are simple and straight forward and easy to implement. My son has ADD and struggles with organizing and doing homework. This book offered some much needed help and assistance in getting us organized for this school year. We started with the binder she recommends for organizing assignments and notes. Now the first week of school has passed and I got all the notes, course outlines, and fee sheets for every subject brought home on time and not lost or ripped or stuffed in a binder!! For any Canadians reading this review, the brand of binder she recommends in the book I was not able to find, but Staples sells one by Five Star that is identical. We bought two, one for core subjects, one for options. So far so good. Next we implement the contract and organize the study area, fully stocked with supplies so there are no excuses and wasted time looking for pens, pencils etc.Overall, this is the best book I have read for homework help for kids with ADD, it was recommended by the CHADD website and I can totally see why! The suggestions are helpful, clear, easy to implement and really work! And the book is an easy read, clear and concise and very well written!! Very practical tools you can begin using today!
If you are looking for hands-on practical ideas to help your child with homework woes this is for you. This is not a book telling you what you already know. It jumps right in with real life homework problems and their solutions and I can about guarantee your homework troubles are covered. Who would know better than a teacher? Think of this book like the TV show "Super Nanny". She has gone into families homes, diagnosed their homework problems and worked with them in specific ways to solve the problems. You're a fly on a wall in the process. Excellent book. Covers elementary aged children to high school students. You will be encouraged and motivated.

A Wonderful Resource
We were having quite a bit of trouble with our 5th grade daughter during homework time. It had become a daily struggle that I dreaded every day. A friend of mine recommended this book as a good resource for me to read. We began to use some of the suggestions in the book and there were pretty much immediate results. The suggestions are simple to implement, very practical and applicable-no matter what grade your child is in. At the risk of sounding over-dramatic this book has changed our lives for the better. We still have a few issues to work on, but there has been a drastic improvement since we first started the year. If you struggle with homework issues in your home, I can't recommend this book enough.

Great, practical advise
As the father of 2 pre-teens, we are just getting into real homework. Not always easy, not always fun. A teacher at my kids' school recommended this book, and I am very glad she did. I like that I was able to identify the type of child I have, and then review a very practical chapter on that child's style. I found the information on organization most useful. I never saw those extra papers and missing pages to be that important but the systems described in the book for organizing my kids has made a huge difference. 5 stars.
