‘The Doctor’ wins again! With 11 race wins, 5 of which were consecutive and a MotoGP first, Rossi claimed his fifth world title at the Malaysian GP with 4 races left. He becomes not only a champion but a recordbreaker - equalling Mike Hailwood’s record of 76 GP wins - firmly establishing his position in bikesport history as a modern day legend. 2005 was a season of firsts - with new GPs in the USA, China and Turkey as well as a maiden GP win for Marco Melandri, who finished second overall in an impressive rise through the rankings from his 2004 final standing of tenth place. He and Bayliss began their first season with Honda with high hopes of championship success, alongside Edwards debut with Yamaha and Checa’s with Ducati. But this year also signalled important goodbyes - to Neil Hodgson who moves to the AMA Superbikes Championship and team Aprilia, who withdrew from MotoGP competition indefinitely. Alongside changes in line-up, new rules added to the excitement of this year’s championship. Fuel tank capacity was reduced from 24 to 22 litres, and a new weather rule insisted that riders were not to stop in the rain unless whiteflagged - all of which pushed riders abilities even further resulting in 17 action-packed, highly entertaining rounds, all captured by trackside and on-bike cameras. The US round at Laguna Seca is covered in detail. Great interviews and action of Nicky Hayden winning his first MotoGP. So if it’s action and speed you’re looking for, look no further than this official review - nothing else comes close!

Bored? This will put you to sleep.
What has happened to Duke? There were 17 rounds in 2005. In a DVD advertised as 180 minutes, we get, in every round mind you, four separate plays of the cartoon characters with a synthesized "Are you ready boots?" Then each round has stock tourist footage of places like Bruno, Sachsenring and Assen (just in case you were planning a visit other than to see a GP). Then there's an on-board lap (apparently useful to some GP riders) but unlike past years, they don't even bother to inform who the rider is. So that's a full 119 minutes of filler. They cut all but 15 seconds from the post-race interviews. And they cut all 125 and 250 coverage, a feature of prior years. Finally, there's the racing. Some of the most exciting footage ever, reduced to soporific four-minute outtakes. Compare the same company's 2002 or 2001 offerings and it's clear someone at Duke is ripe for new challenges. Guys, it's quite simple. Show the races, comment on them.

RECOMENDED FOR ROSSI FANS
THIS YEAR WAS THE MOST DOMINANT PERFORMANCE BY A RACER EVER IN THE PREMIER CLASS! ROSSI IS UNREAL IN THE 2005 SEASON. FROM THE 1ST RACE HE SETS THE TONE BY GOING TO SURGERY ON GIBERNAU AND QUICKLY RUNS AWAY FROM THE REST OF THE FIELD. DON'T GET THE WRONG IMPRESSION THOUGH THERE ARE LOTS OF COMPETITIVE RACES THAT WILL KEEP YOU GLUED TO YOUR SEAT AND A FEW UNEXPECTED NAMES SHOWED OUT THIS YEAR.THE ONLY DOWNSIDE TO THIS DVD IS THAT YOU CAN'T SKIP OVER THE ONBOARD LAP BEFORE EACH RACE BUT HAVE TO FASTFORWARD IT WHICH REALLY IS NOT A BIG DEAL, IF YOU ARE A ROSSI FAN OR LOVE MOTORCYCLE RACING THIS DVD IS A MUST HAVE IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THAT.

DONINGTON PARK!
If you wanna see one of the most gifted racers to ever hop on a motorcycle, buy this DVD and watch the the race at Donington Park, Great Britain. One of Rossi's best performances in a blow-out season.

Slightly disappointing
I am a motorbike/ MotoGP enthusiast and own many of the Season Review DVD's going back to 2000. Compared to some of the more recent editions this is slightly lacking in action and is not presented in the same slick manner as some of the more recent editions. However, if you are looking for a review of the 2005 MotoGP season where else can you look? Worth a look but you will probably re-watch some of the other season revuiw titles more than this one.
