Pachmayr Slide Rack Assist

I bought 2; one for my wife and the other for my mother. It does, indeed, help get the slide in motion; the greater surface area makes it easier for people with weak or arthritic hands. It fit most of our firearms pretty well. It might be useful to make this in an additional, smaller size. On the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380, it wouldn't fit at all until I cut the ring off of the adjustment tab. Now it will actually move, but the combination of small gun with a slender slide and the larger size of the Rack-It made it difficult to line up. On every other (larger) gun (Walther PPS, Springfield XD.Mod2 sub-compact, Colt 1911 Series 70, etc) I didn't have to look to line it up. So, the actual rating is 5 stars on everything but the smallest of pistols - on those (so far) I'd have to say 3 stars. I love the concept - and if Pachmayr makes a smaller version for the mouse-gun crowd I'll get one. If pain or weakness makes it hard for you to work your slide, and this fits your gun, I recommend it highly. If you have to modify the product a bit, and finagle it a bit to get it positioned right, I still recommend it, at least until something better comes along.

I just bought a 9mm pistol. I am old and have arthritis in my hands. The pistol is new and the recoil spring is quite stiff. And my arthritic left hand has a problem gripping the slide to rack it. The Pachmayr Slide Rack Assist was suggested by the importer's service rep. It's "universal" and fits over the front end of the pistol. It makes moving the slide on this new gun quite manageable. I have used it in my first shooting range session and won't be without it as long as I own this pistol. The Pachmayr site also says that it's good for people with small hands and well as those with arthritis.

I am an avid shooter and have been using auto loaders since my employeer adopted them. I had a stroke on my left side aa ffew years ago. . and my left hand (already my weak side) could no longer manipulate a slide. I used and trusted Pachmeyer years ago for revolver grips. Based on that I decided to give sthis device a shot-so to speak. I really had little hope but I got the shipment yesterday and then tried it on 3 different models. It worked great! For years I always put an empty mag in the pistol to lock the slide back as I Had little hope of manipulating a slide lock while i tried to rack the slide. With this device no problems at all. I now have one for my cleaning tools, I will get a second one for my range bag. To add onto my review: I did order a second device. It arrived yesterday, ahead of schedule. Amazon for the win!

Being 80 years old, and some arthritis in my hands, this device is heavens sent. I had previously had enough difficulty racking my 1911, H&K full size USP, that I often avoided shooting them at the range.

I just received today and already am totally satisfied. I recently purchased a firearm online. But once I got it, I realized it was nearly impossible for me to rack the slide. I had to use gloves and a table as an aid. I was resigned to having to immediately resell, at a loss of course, because I knew I could not use it. Then I saw this product and took a chance. I opened it, fit to the firearm, and surprisingly, it worked. True, it took more effort than 90% of my other firearms, but this is acceptable to me. I can now keep my new firearm, throw in this slide assist in my range bag with it, and head to the range. Excellent product for its use and I highly recommend.

Perfect universal slide assist product. Allows for racking slides with strong recoil and hammer springs. Helps those of us with hands and grips weakened by arthritis or stroke rack the slide safely.I was pleasantly surprised at how well the product worked.

I have arthritic thumbs and it has become very painful to rack my semi-auto pistols. This has made it simple and without pain. It does exactly as advertised. I received it on time and it is well worth the price. I highly recommend it for anyone having problems similar to mine.
