Long story short, eight years ago feral cats showed up in my yard with starving kittens. After taking all to the vet, finding homes for all the kittens when they were old enough, I kept the parents...or should say, the parents kept living in my yard. I feed them everyday, as far as I am concerned they are my cats but I live in New England and when the temperature this winter dropped way down, another cat showed up and kicked my two cats out of their heated, insulated house (which really was storage bins one inside another with insulation in between and heat inside). Since the temps were about 20 below, I didn't have the heart to scare the other cat away and chance it freezing to death so I came on Amazon and looked for something I could use outside that is big enough for my two cats and two heating mats, waterproof too.This dog house looked like the best bet and when it came I had no problems putting it together. I insulated the inside (which is why it is blue inside) because if this is used in cold climates, there is no way it will be warm enough for a pet. The floor on this is boards with spaces in between where you see the ground so there is no way it is warm inside. (As is, this will protect against rain, sun, snow, but no way the cold.) I insulated the floor also and I bought the extra big heating mat to cover the bottom (made for dogs and cats also available on Amazon) and I also put a different kind of mat inside (not pictured but also on Amazon) so I could set two different temperatures for them. Another thing is that I made the doorway smaller best I could (also waterproof) since it is for 2 cats and I didn't want any stray dogs able to get in there especially since there is just the one door.What I didn't do is add the hardware to the roof so it tilts up. For my purposes, having a removable roof on it is more practical for my needs. I also want to add, if you do not use the hardware to attach the roof, you may need to pick up some hook and eye type locks to secure the roof to the house depending how windy it gets in your area. I did have the roof blow off in 55 mph winds once. After putting the hooks and eyes on, I never had the problem again even in 60 mph winds.This has been outside against the house which means it is under the little bit of overhang of the roof but it has very little protection, it still gets wet with rain and it snows on it however it is warm inside and the cats use it every night. They also love laying out on the roof of it in the sun during the day. I see no problems of any kind of separation or rot and it is still solid (although it doesn't weigh that much). I really love the house but more importantly, the cats love it.

Great quality dog houses! Bought two for an 80 lb dog and a 50 lb dog. Both seem comfortable inside the houses.

Love this dog house and so does my Shih Tzu. I opted for the medium size because we had the same one for her before and we wanted more room for her. The smaller size would have been too cramped in my book. The medium is just right. The shipping was super fast to Hawaii less than a week. It was easy to assemble, too. I love that the roof that opens like a lid but be careful because there are no pre-drilled holes for the hinges so you have to set it right to avoid closing issues. The packaging was very good only one small chip in the wood but fixable. Yeah I know Cedar wood. Well, it is sturdy and it smells great. I wouldn't stand on it though but it will hold a good amount of weight . My dog took to it right away. All in all it's a great dog house.

Purchased this dog house for our dog to use during cold days when he is sometimes left outside for a few hours. However, he literally refuses to go in to the house. We have tried to lure him with food and toys but it doesn't work. So now we have a dog house with no dog to house! From quality standpoint, its a nice looking house though my dog has taken to gnawing the edges of it...

I have a 4 mo old shih Tzu who loves to be outside. Very windy where we live and during the day she likes to lay in her dog house and look out, nap, hide her chewy.

Bought pet house to use as an enclosed cat litter box so we wouldn't have cat litter scattered on the floor of our master bathroom.The item was not as sturdy as described and not sure about the "waterproof" claim since the wood is untreated. May paint with polyurethane before setting the litter box inside. The directions were not well written and many of the parts were not accurately portrayed in the visual images. For example, the sides were shown as square, but the sides had a slant, so we were initially confused about which side attached where. Also, many of the markings showing where you should drill for the screws were not correct. The wood pieces were not consistent on having pre-drilled holes and the directions mentioned nothing about needing a drill.I haven't implemented the pet house for the cat litter yet since I'm still trying to get our two cats accustomed to the object. If they refuse to use it, we will donate it to a friend with small dogs.

Low quality wood, mediocre construction. I’d be surprised if this lasts 3 months
